The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

 

HJF is seeking a Data Analyst II to provide analytic support to epidemiologists, biostatisticians and scientists and ensure data quality, data integrity, and model development/testing.

 

This position will be in support of the US Army Institute of Surgical Research, JBSA within the Organ Support and Automation Research Team.

 

Note: This work site requires that Non-US Citizen incumbents have lived in the US three out of the past five years. 









Responsibilities






  • Imports, cleans, transforms, validates and/or model data with the purpose of understanding or making conclusions from the data for decision making.
  • Assists in making data accessible to epidemiologists, scientists, physicians, programmers and other end users.
  • Establish database requirements.
  • Tests data to identify data integrity issues, making recommendations and coordinating with the data manager to plan solutions.
  • Troubleshoots problems concerning database records and communicate with co-workers and end users of the system. Makes recommendations and coordinates with the data manager to plan solutions.
  • Recommends operating methods to improve processing, distribution, data flow, collection and database editing procedures.
  • Participates in data-related research projects, including but not limited to data normalization, data maintenance, data research, data standardization, data product development, and data quality assurance.

 

  • Statistical and data analysis skills are a must to assist gathering and solving data quality issues.
  • Statistical modeling or machine learning algorithm development for clustering, classification, and prediction.
  • Knowledge and application of data cleaning and migration techniques.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and passion for analyzing.
  • Must have strong Excel and MS SQL skills.
  • General knowledge of SAS, SPSS, JMP, R, and/or other statistical software.
  • Database development experience.
  • Ability to investigate data issues and participate in remediation.
  • Ability to review detailed documents to validate data in operating systems.
  • Experience in writing requirements.
  • Excel MACROS experience preferred.
  • Experience in scientific writing preferred.
  • Strong independent learner and works well with a team.
  • Familiarity with ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes, electronic medical record data, or medical informatics.                   

Physical Capabilities 

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
