The Senior Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Application DBA is responsible for the advanced administration, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle EBS applications. This role includes ensuring high availability, performance tuning, managing complex integrations, and providing technical leadership to junior DBAs and development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle E-Business Suite applications (R12.x).
  • Set up and maintain multiple EBS instances across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Administer Oracle databases supporting Oracle EBS applications on Exadata Platforms.
  • Perform advanced database maintenance tasks, including complex backups, patching, and upgrades.
  • Monitor and optimize application database performance to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
  • Monitor and optimize application & database performance on Exadata Platforms
  • Provide expert-level technical support for Oracle EBS applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to application performance, security, and functionality.
  • Collaborate with application developers to support new features and enhancements and stakeholders to support database related needs
  • Work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure the database systems are running smoothly, securely, and efficiently
  • Work closely with Oracle support to resolve critical issues.
  • Conduct advanced performance tuning and optimization of both the Oracle databases and Oracle EBS applications.
  • Utilize performance monitoring tools and techniques to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Utilize Exadata specific features and tools to achieve maximum performance
  • Implement and manage high availability solutions, including Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) and Active Data Guard.
  • Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Ensure the security, integrity and availability of Oracle EBS applications and databases.
  • Implement and manage advanced security measures , including encryption and auditing.
  • Monitor and address security vulnerabilities and compliance requirements.
  • Manage user access and permissions in accordance with organizational policies, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct thorough testing to ensure system stability and reliability after patches and upgrades.
  • Manage complex integrations between Oracle EBS and other enterprise applications.
  • Ensure seamless data flow and interoperability between systems.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of database & Exadata configurations, procedures, and changes.
  • Generate and analyze reports on system performance, capacity planning, and health.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to junior DBAs and development teams.
  • Conduct training sessions and share best practices for Oracle EBS administration.
  • Stay current with the latest Oracle EBS features, Oracle Exadata features, enhancements, and best practices.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Oracle EBS systems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in information technology or equivalent education and experience
  • In lieu of undergraduate degree, the ratio is 1:1 meaning one year of college equals one year of work experience and vice versa
  • SQL Server Certified Professional preferred

PEFERRED CERTIFICATIONS

  • Oracle E-Business Suite R12 Applications Database Administrator Certified Expert
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) in Oracle Database Administration.
  • Additional certifications in related Oracle technologies are a plus.

JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with extensive experience in Oracle E-Business Suite administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle database architecture, performance tuning, and backup/recovery strategies.
  • Experience with Oracle EBS R12.1 and R12.2, including modules like Financials, HRMS, and Supply Chain.
  • Experience with Oracle Exadata Machine X-series.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and Unix/Linux shell scripting.
  • Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting of SQL queries and PL/SQL code.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud infrastructure and services is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
