The Senior Healthcare Data Analyst II reports to the Senior Manager, Clinical Operations, and is a lead contributor to the measurement and evaluation of the care being received by Mass General Brigham Health Plan members.
The Senior Healthcare Data Analyst, as part of the Clinical Operations Team, provides direction and guidance on the retrieval and analysis of enterprise clinical data to support process improvement, trend analyses, and identification of healthcare disparities. This position is a subject matter expert on the data systems, data sources, and analytic techniques needed to support business owners on the improvement of care to our members. The Senior Healthcare Data Analyst II can work independently with minimal guidance to design and conduct analyses needed within the organization.
The Senior Healthcare Data Analyst will provide leadership within the team and mentor other junior analysts as needed. Additional responsibilities include collaborative work with multiple departments within the organization such as: Clinical, Contracting, Network Management, Medical Economics, and other areas within the organization.
Finally, the Senior Healthcare Data Analyst will support all other regulatory needs at the state and federal level, and across all health insurance programs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis, monitoring, and reporting of special projects as requested by internal or external organizations to support decision making process and business strategies.
- Provide ongoing data and analytic leadership on the evaluation of disease/condition management programs.
- Consult with senior staff on the evaluation and effectiveness of clinical programs.
- Provide ongoing analytic support to the alternate payment methodology programs as well as the accountable care organization efforts. Facilitate and lead discussions with stakeholders from provider organizations, as well as within the health plan, providing expertise and direction on the structure and management of these risk arrangements.
- Provide analytic support to MassHealth Quality Reporting and the External Quality Review Organization. Consult with business owners and provide process and outcome data on specific programs.
- Analyze Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) results and identify key drivers and underlying issues for member’s satisfaction.
- Support the annual Healthcare Effectiveness Data Information Set (HEDIS) reporting and software, providing analytic support and guidance on the use of HEDIS data.
- Lead and facilitate the completion of key deliverables such as the HEDIS Roadmap, Quality Management Program Evaluation and ongoing studies of new programs that benefit Mass General Brigham Health Plan members.
- Consistently produces well thought out, error free work in a timely manner. Performs detailed quality checks on all final products to ensure that users receive reliable information.
- Prioritize data analyses as directed by quality or clinical leadership, and presents conclusions and findings to all levels of staff across the organization.
- Independently design and manage analyses to discover, articulate, assess, or measure impact of organization programs or initiatives.
- Performs functions such as, but not limited to, the development and maintenance of reporting, analysis related to utilization patterns related to common conditions or disorders, population trends, readmission rates, quality contract performance evaluation develop and maintain contract deliverables reports, etc.
- Conducts ad hoc analysis as needed to meet various operational and organizational needs.
- Assists in the acquisition of data and report development to support required reporting for MassHealth Quality Improvement Goals, NCQA, clinical program evaluations, network reporting, or other organizational initiatives.
- Serves as a resource for other teams within the organization for projects and tasks requiring advanced technical skills.
- Serves as an expert, “super-user” of available data sources (e.g., Data Warehouse, Reporting, Dashboards, SAS) and predictive modeling tools.

Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's Degreen in Analysis or related field of study
- At least 5-7 years of experience in data analysis
- Advanced SQL, SAS, and Excel skills along with experience with statistical modeling tools required.
Highly Preferred:
- Master’s degree required in statistics, computer science, information systems, or other related field.
- 10-15 years of health care payer industry experience, managing large and complicated analyses for senior and executive leadership.
- 10-15 years’ experience working in electronic medical records, such as EPIC, Athena, etc.
- Experience with regulatory reporting.
- Experience with Medicaid, Medicare and Commercial products.
