The role

 

As a Senior Business Intelligence Developer, you will support and deliver high quality BI reporting solutions as part of the Central BI Team via both on prem and cloud-based solutions. You will perform operation support activities, ensuring the Central BI solution meets the business SLA’s, including occasional out of hours activities. 

 

In your capacity as a senior team member, you will play a key role in mentoring and developing fellow team members while actively contributing to the achievement of broader BI Team goals.

 

This role is offered on a remote basis, with occasional travel to either the London or Swansea office. This is expected to be once per month. 

 

Key responsibilities

 

Business Intelligence Team

  • Review, develop and deliver high quality BI reporting solutions (e.g. BI reports, dashboards, financial reports) to an agreed schedule and following the agreed team standards and processes.
  • Conduct data analysis and then design and deliver the subsequent data extraction and database repository.
  • Provide the agreed level of documentation and handover to enable the support and continued development of the BI solutions delivered.
  • Liaise with business personnel to review, refine and document business requirements.
  • Contribute to the management and continuous improvement of BI technical environment to ensure expected service levels are met and known service issues are resolved.
  • Participate in BI and business meetings and take ownership of relevant action points throughout the escalation process to achieve satisfactory results.

 

Wider BI Business Support

  • Work directly with the Underwriting, Claims, Finance and Central MI business representatives to identify and document business requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the business teams to enable them to achieve their own reporting goals.
  • Present innovative technical opportunities to the business.
  • Embody and amplify the IQUW values in all aspects of day-to-day activity ensuring that all interactions and engagements are carried out with the highest ethical and professional standards and that all work is accomplished with quality and in accordance with IQUW values.

 

Qualifications, skills and experience

 

Essential experience:

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure (Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks, ADO)
  • T-SQL Development (MS SQL Server 2005 onwards)
  • MS Integration Services (SSIS) including development of full DW ETL Solutions
  • MS Analysis Services (SSAS) for complex cube reporting solutions
  • MS Reporting Services (SSRS) including development of complex reports
  • Kimball Dimensional Modelling Methodology

 

     Experience of the following systems would also be advantageous:

  • Team Foundation Server
  • MDS
