Role Summary/Purpose:
The VP, Senior Business Cloud Data Analyst will work in the CTO Data & Analytic organization and be responsible for developing strong analytic insights and driving deep stakeholder collaboration to mature and manage a multi-year migration roadmap for migrating the current Synchrony analytic data ecosystem to the cloud while protecting user experience. Candidates for this role will have the ability to design strong data models & effective analytic approaches to best inform deep insights on dataset and data movement interdependencies and user behaviors. Furthermore, they will be experienced in translating those insights into meaningful recommendations & action steps that drive stakeholder alignment. This will involve fostering meaningful partnerships with various business stakeholders to finalize the scope, timing, communication and training needs of end-users for each migration bundles, and relationships with cloud migration management and workstream leaders to align on the data migration roadmap. Successful candidate in this role will be able to craft simple, easy-to-understand messages from complex, highly technical results and act as a change agent to drive the change management of end-user adoption on cloud, balancing cloud initiative needs with a wide array of business stakeholder needs. Bonus if they also have some experience in data management and governance to properly incorporate impacts of sufficient risk and compliance needs.

Essential Responsibilities:
Mature the data model that captures data usage, lineage and user access & behaviors across our data ecosystem (e.g. database clusters, datasets, ETLs/ELTs, APIs, etc.). Improve data sources and assumptions which in turn improves transparency understanding the power consumption and usage patterns of data assets.
Analyze and drive insight into:
Optimal migration sequencing that enables data analysts to move to the cloud.
The critical PII at-rest and in-transit that exists in each sequence.
Recommendations for optimization opportunities due to data model/structure improvements, data movement code efficiencies, data assets that are no longer used, etc.
Point of contact to consolidate a central cloud data migration roadmap across SYF and drive alignment and consensus in structure and timing of plan across business stakeholders and leadership.
Develop short-term and long-term roadmaps and provide regular updates to cross functional stakeholders on progress.
Develop metrics to measure progress of migration and define success.
Agile team management and talent development of analysts focused on executing cloud migration roadmap and data optimization.
Share learnings and capabilities with broader data analytics community and advocate use of data usage best practices.
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Information Systems/Technology, finance, business, or other quantitative/technical fields or in lieu of degree, a high school diploma and 9+ years of work experience in analytics, data/CDO organizations, and/or other technology or financial service businesses.
7+ years’ experience working with data/analytics and:
3+ years of project management in data or analytics.
5+ years of experience utilizing SQL (or SAS a plus) for data mining.
5+ year advanced spreadsheet and presentation tools.
Demonstrated presentation/documentation skills with the ability to create strong narratives to further data literacy, creating informative infographics that relay complex technical concepts simply and clearly.
Experience in collaborating with cross functional teams and executing complex projects
Strong project management skills prioritizing projects flowing in from multiple stakeholders
Desired Characteristics:
Demonstrated influence management with the ability to drive alignment on next steps.
Ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional teams and become a trusted business partner.
Experience with large-scale cloud migrations and/or other technical initiatives requiring change management.
Prior experience with data management, data tools, data governance and/or data risk & compliance functions in financial industry focused on understanding how data is organized, managed, used and how it must be protected.
Demonstrated analytic, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. Understanding of graph databases a plus.
Self-starter: ability to independently identify success, metrics to measure progress and identify & execute next steps.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to innovate and find creative solutions to meet business goals.
Grade/Level: 12
The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
