Your Opportunity

The Senior Master Data Analyst will serve as Smithfield’s visible master data evangelist for sound data governance policies and procedures.

Core Responsibilities

  • Data Creation and Maintenance

    • Executes master data creation and maintenance in accordance with established standard operating procedures, templates/mapping documents, service level objectives, and project plans.

    • Completes/processes SAP loads utilizing data workflow tools, load templates and corresponding programs, mass change transactions, and/or direct entry depending on the situation.

    • Includes some evening/weekend work to minimize impact to the business.

  • Data Governance

    • Enforces gatekeeper processes requiring appropriate data and approvals to ensure SOX compliance.

    • Upholds master data standards by validating/normalizing/cleansing data to ensure adherence to technical and business rules, naming conventions, abbreviations, etc.

    • Runs error reports and/or pulls data to identify inconsistencies and load corrections.

    • Performs periodic data audits.

    • Searches for methods to continuously improve data accuracy/consistency.

  • Data Resource

    • Functions as a master data knowledge resource by helping the business understand master data and the data workflow tools used to request adds/changes (level 1 support).

    • Provides knowledge and guidance on data structure and dependencies.

    • Documents data issues engaging Manager to assist in working with the business and technical teams as needed to reach resolution.

    • Provides business and third parties such as customers, warehouses, and consultants with ad hoc reporting as directed.

    • Recommends reports to automate.

  • Data Initiatives

    • Assists Manager to work with the business and technical teams to understand rules and implement data setup for new requirements due to system enhancements, process improvements, and/or business rule changes.

    • Provides support for testing and implementation.

  • Data Documentation

    • Maintains logs/shared LAN files to document master data activity for projects, status reports, and SOX compliance.

    • Creates/maintains standard operating procedures, user request forms, and other documentation to promote data consistency.

  • Data Skill Building

    • Provides cross-training/shares knowledge with teammates to build skills across the master data team.

    • Continuously improves knowledge of master data to better understand how data elements are used both technically and by the business.

Qualifications

  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

  • Experienced user of SAP and DSP (Data Stewardship Platform)

  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Highest level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic.

  • Proven success working in a team environment.

  • Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-changing environment.

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
