Position Summary

As a Senior BI Technical Data Analyst, you will be responsible for maintaining, designing, developing, optimizing the ETL and data model architecture to support the end user dashboard and reporting needs.

You will be the expert who can synthesize Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud applications and external data into the data warehouse and data model. Must have hands on experience and strong appetite to continuously learn and develop expertise in Oracle EBS & Oracle Cloud application data models (particularly Sales, Finance, order to cash and procure to pay areas). 

Desirable to also possess strong data discovery skills; the ability to identify and utilize both external industry and internal data. Familiar to the concept and ability to design data schemas for data discovery purposes. You will be the go-to person for internal report writers if they have any questions or issues with data accuracy and model. Work will be both independent and collaborative in nature. You will engage in data exploration exercises with a variety of complex business intelligence tools, requiring knowledge of relational database structures.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the conduit between global business users and the Technology teams.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Design and develop complex analytical data models based on gathered requirements using BI tools - Business Objects Webi, MS Power BI and Oracle Cloud Analytics.
  • Use advanced ability to problem-solve creatively and analyze processes and systems.
  • Demonstrate analytical ability required to gather data, perform transformation, perform complex analysis, solve both business and technical problems.
  • Diagnose reporting issues in real-time and provide guidance with metrics and visualizations.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements. Deliver functional requirement documents and obtain end-user sign-off.
  • Understand business objectives, collect business requirements and translate them into ETL and data model requirements.
  • Schedule and deploy business intelligence components in accordance with supplied standards and best practices and completing accurate and timely documentation.
  • Work seamlessly with the BI Manager, BI Analyst and BI Technical Architects to recommend solutions for process improvements within existing environment.
  • Collaborate with business and IT departments to understand system data and its use, participate in data analysis and validation, and provide support around the data and how it is integrated.
  • Mentor, train and assist business users to develop a deep understanding of the data, its use, and the structure of reports and dashboards.
  • Work and communicate effectively with a variety of business users and levels to review and discuss their reporting needs.
  • Self-starter and ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science. Masters preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience as a technical data analyst, using SQL/PLSQL, designing ETL, data model, data architecture, data warehouse.
  • Familiar with creating reports and visualization using Oracle Analytics Cloud, Power BI or a similar BI tool.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge and background in Oracle EBS or other ERP data models (particularly Sales, Finance, order to cash and procure to pay areas).
  • Ability to utilize expertise in Oracle EBS or other ERP processes and data models to understand user requirements, identify the tables involved, document and communicate those requirements to the development team.
  • Ability to assist and support business users in various areas to research and investigate data issues in the reports against the general ledger or subledgers.
  • Knowledge of core business processes (Manufacturing, Cost Accounting, Logistics, Order management and/or Procurement) obtained by directly working in one of these functions is preferred.
  • Familiar with business intelligence concepts, ability to collaborate with end users to define metrics and business requirements.
  • Experience with the concept and design of data schemas utilizing different cloud tools such as Azure, GCP, AWS, Snowflake, etc.
  • Strong desire to grow and learn new business processes, technologies and ERP data models
  • Proficiency and fluency in financial data
  • Intermediate SQL skills.
  • Knowledge of dimensional modeling and ETL processes and tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to promote positive working relationships.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple demands in a rapidly changing, team-based environment.
  • Experience in the training of end-users in new and/or modified system environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally across all levels of the organization – from senior management to programmers and administrative staff.
