Position Summary:


The Logistics Safety Data Analyst will be part of the corporate safety team and will collaborate with both the field safety team and the operational team to help achieve our goal of becoming a company with world class safety management processes and performance. This position will help us achieve this goal through the development of the next generation of Safety performance metrics for Penske. This role will be key in establishing Penske’s advanced and predictive safety analytics capabilities. The Logistics Safety Data Analyst will work on numerous projects concurrently. The projects will vary in size from ad hoc to large and complex, often with organization-wide impact. This role provides analysis and develops approach and scope on each project. Such efforts require cross-functional involvement with safety, operations, IT, and vendors.


 


3 Days Hybrid in Office, 2 days remote. (Location - Reading, PA or Beechwood, OH) 
 


Major Responsibilities:



 


Design, develop, and implement safety performance visualization reports


• Translate business requirements into visualization dashboards to monitor safety performance


• Develop, deploy, and maintenance all safety performance dashboards and reports


• Report curation


• Routinely assess current dashboard/report offerings to ensure relevant and accurate data is provided


• Triage production issues and provide support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues


• Be the primary contact and lead support associate for safety performance dashboards/metrics


• Creating technical documentation for safety dashboards/reports



 


Data evaluation and analysis


• Identify appropriate data sources and work with IT (Data Engineers) to integrate into certified data source or read-only view


• Extract, blend, cleanse, and organize data


• Identify (and ameliorate) outliers and missing or incomplete records in the data



 


Communication


• Engage in best practices discussions with other cross-functional team members



 


Exploring new technologies


• Understand business trends in the logistics industry


• Evaluate new technologies and determine if and how they can be applied



 


Other projects and tasks as assigned

 



 



Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science or related quantitative field preferred.  If no degree, equivalent work experience is required. 
• Master's Degree preferred.  If no degree, equivalent work experience is required.
• 5+ years of experience in a related field required 
• 3 years of experience designing and building visualization dashboards using industry familiar tools, preferably Tableau.  Familiarity with a variety of cloud/database technologies such as Snowflake, Azure, and SQL is preferred.
• Must have advanced dashboard design skills
• Intermediate data analysis skills required
• Introductory level of SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python)
• Ability to collect and analyze complex data and translate data insights into action
• Must be able to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong collaboration & organizational skills; ability to navigate cross-business functions
• Must have excellent time management skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple projects/work streams
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
