Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Institutional Research, the Reporting & Data Analyst fulfills requests for both routine and ad-hoc data requests submitted to the Office of Institutional Research. A working knowledge of university business operations, business intelligence systems, statistical packages, report writing software, and relational databases is required. Analytical skills will be necessary in support of current and new initiatives in which the IR office is involved such as, but not limited to, accreditation, assessment, data warehouses, planning, student success and retention, survey results/submissions (both internal and external), and other special projects. The position provides support for the analysis and design of a wide range of data affecting university student enrollment. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential in conveying technical and statistical information to non-technical user groups and upper level management. Also essential is the designing and writing of reports that have clear and concise data visualizations, written narratives with executive summaries, significant findings, and recommendations for further work and/or analysis that might be necessary based on those findings. The position includes the need of confidential information that is protected under the federal FERPA and occasionally HIPAA guidelines.
Physical Demands
May require regular visits to various department sites located throughout the campus. May require occasional overtime to meet deadlines. Heavy reliance on computer software applications. Attention to detail is essential. Must be able to work with frequent interruptions.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience specifically with IBM’s Cognos business intelligence report writing software and other analysis tools. Experience with Ellucian Banner products (e.g. Admissions, Student, Finance, & HR). Experience with SQL and/or other database programming languages. Experience with general programming and analysis tools such as “R” and Python.
