Avum is seeking a Data Engineer with to support our data-driven operations supporting US DoD client. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and reviewing complex procurement data pipelines while ensuring data meets established business rules.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) procurement data from various sources into a data warehouse or data lake
  • Conducting in-depth analysis of procurement data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Using a data validation tool kit to identify any errors or migration failure point
  • Performing data cleaning, transformation, and validation while ensuring the integrity of the procurement data
  • Developing and implementing automated data processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
  • Collaborating with IT and data engineering teams to implement process improvements, ensuring efficient data collection and management
  • Maintaining data documentation, including data definitions, processes, and technical specifications, for future reference
  • Adhering to procurement data governance policies and standards to ensure data security and compliance
  • Working with user groups to identify reporting issues/enhancements and document business requirements
  • Creating insightful visualizations (dashboards, reports) to communicate data-driven insights to stakeholders

What You Will Need:

  • US Citizenship is required in addition to the ability to obtain and/or maintain a US Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
  • Strong data exchange experience using XML and Excel
  • Experience proactively troubleshooting data errors
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, and security best practices

Location:

This fully remote role requires participation in virtual meetings using tools like Microsoft Teams. Availability is required during core Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours, Monday through Friday. The candidate will coordinate remotely with external project teams and Avum employees and may be required to attend in-person meetings, which may require occasional travel to government sites in Washington, D.C., and the Avum office in Agoura Hills, California.
