Description

The Metadata Analyst for the Data Stewardship Enablement team is a key role focused on engaging Stewardship teams and facilitating the implementation/documentation of metadata in the Data Library. This includes aligning technical and business metadata for the organization’s data assets. The analyst will collaborate with business domains to form stewardship teams, identify and onboard  data trustees, lead/data stewards, data custodians, and metadata scribes, and work closely with them to understand data sources, data flows, and business processes for capturing metadata for critical data elements. They will facilitate working sessions to gather business and technical metadata requirements and support the automation of metadata capture. Additionally, the analyst will aid stewardship teams in documenting the business context for datasets and ensure metadata quality through checks and validations. They will also communicate standards and best practices for metadata documentation to the stewardship teams. This role will engage and interact with customers and key stakeholders across the organization understanding needs, pain points and learning requirements to enable overall change management efforts.  The Metadata Analyst will continue to grow and maintain knowledge in data, analytics, advanced analytics methodologies, artificial intelligence/machine learning, digital and technology solutions, and automation opportunities. This role reports directly to the Manager – Stewardship Enablement. 


Collaborate with business & technical stakeholders on maintaining metadata repository. Facilitate consistent adoption of metadata standards across the enterprise, demonstrating the value added by adoption. Assist in the implementation of data lineage and ensuring the strategy is consistent across all covered information domains. Support the Data Stewards & business/technical SMEs for each covered information domain. Document business processes, data flows for critical data elements. Analyze business needs by facilitating business & IT discussions and reviewing business requirements. Collaborate with business & technical stakeholders to implement metadata usage & reporting solutions. Assist with design as appropriate. Support metadata distribution & usage across the enterprise. Assist on research, development & implementation of special projects, as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree (business, communications, advertising, marketing, statistics, engineering, technology, health care) and a minimum of 5 years in the Hospital or Healthcare Industry with at least 4 years of experience in data management or development. Experience in with product development. Strong technical and analytical skills, as well as hands-on experience with enterprise data management platforms. Collibra experience strongly preferred. Proficiency in with data modeling, relational databases & understanding of SQL queries. Working knowledge of business intelligence tools. 3+ years working with data mapping & transformations. 3+ years working with gathering requirements and translating to technical needs. Experience with regulatory requirements and security. Ability to facilitate metadata sessions with business & technical stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills are needed to gain cooperation from various stakeholders. Excellent time management, customer service, organizational, verbal & written communication skills. Demonstrable ability to work on large cross-functional teams. Strong ability to organize, prioritize & dive into details. Proficiency in Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
