The Market Data department works collaboratively with all business units and support functions to ensure Marex sources the right data, maintains controls and permissions around distribution and apportions costs. Also manages and maintains close relationships with exchanges and other suppliers.
The Market Data Analyst is responsible for understanding Marex’s businesses and their current and evolving requirements for Market Data. The role involves sourcing, negotiation and management of market data products and services, with a strong emphasis on contractual compliance and cost control.
The analyst ensures full visibility of market data usage through insightful reporting and analysis, supporting sourcing decisions, budgeting and optimisation efforts. A key aspect of the role is maintaining strong relationships with exchanges and data vendors, staying informed about their offerings, pricing structures, and potential alternatives to ensure Marex is getting the best value and contracts are appropriately aligned with business needs.
Responsibilities:
• Be a subject matter expert for market data related platforms and products and the licensing of such.
• Act as business advisory; grow stakeholder relationships and answer business queries on various MDS vendor & services topics (e.g. service descriptions, alternative options, cost reduction opportunities).
• Negotiate deals; build and maintain relationships with key vendors, ensuring optimal contract structure (consolidated agreements, favourable terms both contractual and commercial) following Marex internal governance and procurement processes.
• Operate license demand management, understanding use cases and challenging the Business to ensure correct allocation.
• Review contracts to ensure scope of license / usage and other key terms are fit for purpose, identify contractual risk and meet minim Marex standards.
• Proactively identify and address non-compliant data usage with the business, ensure proper licensing is in place and that the business is informed of relevant market data usage policies to reduce risk.
• Contribute to the maintenance of the Market Data inventory (inclusion of new contracts, cataloguing of services, cost allocations etc.)
• Assist with Market Data audits. This includes collecting and analysing the usage data, understanding all application usage and liaising with the exchange / auditors.
• Maintain industry knowledge of products and services, industry direction and trends; take part in industry forums and working groups.
Skills & Experience:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good organisational skills and ability to work well under pressure and stringent timelines.
• Previous experience in the Banking / Brokerage / Buy-side / Sell-side sector.
• Market data sourcing, negotiation, contract review and management.
• Good knowledge of products & services from Bloomberg, LSEG / Refintiv, ION, ICE, CME etc.
• A solid understanding and knowledge of data licensing policies e.g. redistribution, non-display and derived data usage.
• Familiarity with inventory systems such as Calero.
