Position: Data Analyst
Status: Full Time, Exempt
Reports to: Director of Quality and Compliance
Job Summary:
Under direction, develop and evaluate assessment strategies requiring: Collecting, processing, and performing statistical analyses on large datasets to help the organization make data-driven decisions. This person will help refine metrics to better assess program effectiveness as it relates to both individual/team performance and the overall fulfillment of defined objectives, application of scientifically rigorous research methodologies utilizing advanced statistical techniques (e.g., behavioral models, causal inference, latent variable structures), and writing of reports appropriate for audiences.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide assessment through qualitative and quantitative analyses for integrated care programs (mental health, substance abuse and physical health) and services.
- Produce internal and external reports, and develop new assessment techniques based on rigorous social & behavioral research methodology in response to changing reporting and operational requirements.
- Provide operational direction face-to-face with teams and developing and supporting internal software solutions to meet critical and immediate needs.
- Select quantitative models appropriate to specified research questions and provide justifications utilizing knowledge of data availability/structure, models’ assumptions.
- Use knowledge of research design and available metrics to provide teams with usable measurement strategies and methodologies to meet their objectives
- Condense assessment findings into clear, concise reports and/or presentations for delivery to diverse audiences
- Meet with team members to maintain situational awareness on internal and external conditions that may require changes in assessment strategy
- Respond to urgent, ad hoc requests requiring quick analysis, interpretation of results, and translation for a lay audience
- Conduct quantitative analysis of large data sets (e.g. multiple years of government financial transactions)
- Summarize results so that the client may make informed decisions from your quantitative analysis
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or other related fields from an accredited college or university. Master’s Degree Preferred: Social Work, Public Health, Psychology or a directly related mental health field
- Two (2) or more years in Nonprofit/healthcare and/or data analytics
- One (1) or more years’ experience accessing data in an Electronic Medical Record Experience with Population Health tracking, reporting and outcome analysis.
- Able to apply advanced analytics capabilities to derive insights from a combination of unstructured, semi-structured, and structured data
- Knowledge of Intermediate frequentist and/or Bayesian statistical techniques including experience with advanced analytics on large data sets and familiarity using at least one tool in addition to SPSS such as SAS, STATA, R, SQL or Python
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License, appropriate insurance, and use of own vehicle.
Skills Required
- Proficient in statistical software like SPSS, SAS, or R for analyzing data.
- Experience with database systems like Eheart, SQL, Access, or others.
- Skills in creating visualization tools.
- Strong ability to write reports and present data findings in a clear, concise manner.
- Advanced Excel skills for data manipulation and analysis.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey findings.
Working Conditions
Works in an office environment. Minimal travel may be required.
