The Role
The Data Analyst analyzes, compiles, validates, and generates reports from health plan member eligibility, medical claims data, and user profile information. The healthcare data analyst performs duties under the direct supervision of a senior technology business leader. The Data Analyst is a commercial-facing role, regularly interacting with clients, business partners, and other stakeholders to initiate receipt of PHI from third parties, normalizing data to the TouchCare Healthcare Data Warehouse and operationalizing the ongoing receipt of updates from a wide variety of sources.
Responsibilities
- Learn and maintain knowledge of data model, including data dictionary, metadata registry and flows, architecture and meta-data definitions for data integration, and customization and segmentation rules.
- Understand and follow data governance process and controls and ensure compliance with enterprise data architecture principles and standards for the various systems and components.
- Design and regularly produce reports based on client’s healthcare data in data warehouse and integrated data from other TouchCare sources such as its TCA Customer Relationship Management platform and its Health Assistant Encounter Management system
- Develop new reports and analytical procedures to further insights into the healthcare spending patterns of TouchCare Clients
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree at minimum; master's degrees preferred
- 5+ years as a healthcare data analyst for a health plan, health system, or related vendor
- 3+ years business analyst experience designing, validating, and operationalizing standard reports in support of business objectives
- 5+ years utilizing ETL, Data Warehousing, Operational data store within a healthcare organizations.
- Solid understanding of layered architecture, distributed systems and SOA.
- Strong communication skills and understanding the situational nuances required with others.
- Team player with high integrity and accountability.
- Ability to excel in dynamic, fast paced, evolving organization.
Technical Skills
- Experience with healthcare related EDI ANSI X12, HL7, etc. data formats
- Experience working with and maintaining data in various data storage environments, SQL, noSQL, Columnar data stores, etc.
- Analytics experience using development using Python, Scala, Node.js, Java.
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau
- Expert level experience in performance tuning databases and SQL statements.
- Strong knowledge version control and agile QA procedures within a data team
- Experience working in a HIPAA compliant environment with PHI.
