As a US-based warranty provider, we provide expertise in safety and homecare to our customers. Our integrated solutions meet customer needs both inside and outside the home. Inside the home, we safeguard essential systems like plumbing, heating and cooling, appliances, power surge protection, hot water heaters, and interior electrical components. Outside the home, we ensure the protection of vital lines, including water, gas, wells, sewers, electric, and septic systems. We primarily go to market B2B2C, partnering mostly with water/gas/electric utilities and municipalities to offer our product leveraging their brand for marketing and often adding our subscription fee to the water/gas/electric bill itself. Position Summary 



We are seeking a passionate and skilled Data Scientist to join our team. As a Data Scientist, you’ll be at the forefront of leveraging data to drive impactful decisions. Your work will involve cutting-edge techniques in data science, machine learning, statistical modeling, and product analytics. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with industry experts, experienced leaders and exceptional engineers to build the distributed and scalable machine learning platform leveraging Ray.io and expand the impact to every corner of the business. This role will be based in our Naperville IL office. Our office environment is a key driver of our company culture and employee experience, so a regular in-office hybrid model (generally T-Th in office and M & F remote) is required.



 

Responsibilities:  

 


  • Diving into Complex Datasets: you’ll explore large and intricate datasets, identify patterns, anomalies, trends using statistical techniques and visualization tools. 

  • Leveraging Machine Learning Algorithms: You’ll apply machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, boosting, neural networks, LLMs) to build predictive models. These models help solve business problems, such as predicting direct mail response, churn prediction, customer segmentation, CLTV Modeling, claim frequency and severity prediction and optimizing processes, etc. 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers, Analytic Engineers, Product Managers/Owners, Engineers, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions. 

  • Feature Engineering: Extract relevant features from raw data. This involves transforming and creating new variables that enhance model performance. 

  • Hypothesis Testing and Experiment Design: Design and execute experiments to validate hypotheses. Build the randomization framework and work as SME on statistical analysis of testing results and make actionable recommendations. 

  • Experience with model deployment with modern data stack: Familiar with best practices on model deployment based on requirements and collaborating with MLE to deploy model within established infra (AWS EC2, Ray.io, PySpark, Prefect, MLFlow, etc).

  • End-to-End Analytics Solution Experience: Comfortable to start by investigation of data pipeline, performing descriptive, diagnostic and predictive analysis based on the business goal and specific problem to solve.




Experience:


  • 3+ years of end-to-end data science machine learning experience involving a cloud platform (preferably in AWS and in Python).

  • 1+ years of experience deploying models into production with tooling around observability, orchestration and performance monitoring. 

  • Experience with distributed computing (Ray.io, PySpark, etc) is a plus. 




 Education:  


  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM or related field required.

  • Master's Degree or PhD in a quantitative field (ie Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science etc) is preferred.
