Data Analyst

Fairwinds Technologies is looking for two Data Analysts to perform deep analysis of data and then determine the best way to represent it visually to managers and stakeholders. The data analysts will ensure quality assurance, process documentation, and define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The person in this role must have excellent communication skills and the ability to take complex problems in data and present solutions with little oversight. We are looking for a professional that can acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintains databases/data systems. 
  
Location:  Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD 

Compensation:  Base Salary 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree AND 4 years of experience or 10 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on analytical and data visualization best practices.
  • Must already possess a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Critical thinking skills, talent for project planning and execution, ability to convert hypotheses into clear action items, and focus on results.
  • Prior experience converting your analytic results into reports and presenting them to peers and senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, SQL, MACRUS, Tableau and/or Power BI.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite 365.
  • Knowledge and understanding of DoD documents, policies, and procedures (i.e., CDRLs, SDRLs, SOPs, MIL-STD, etc.)
  • Possesses knowledge and understanding of Satellite Communications (SATCOM)
  • Experience with uploading deliverables in Government Databases.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses complex data systems and programs in support of ad-hoc and standing management or customer requests.
  • Creates programs, methodologies, and files for analyzing and presenting data. Examines quality of data, applications, and functions.
  • Produces output and sustains operation.
  • Research new data sources and analytical tools.
  • Contributes to new product development and improvement in product delivery and presentation.
  • Develops awareness of and familiarity with issues and events affecting organization, department, and/or customer.
  • Uses and supports database applications and analytical tools.
  • Uses timely and appropriate participation of users/customers in data collection and query systems.
  • Create and maintain views into data sets to provide visualization of data analysis. 
  • Preparing daily/period reports and dashboards to communicate outcomes of data analyst activities. 
  • Integrate, configure, apply, and troubleshoot methods and software that mine and analyze data. 
  • Utilize your strong analytical skills to collect, organize, and analyze large datasets from multiple sources.
  • Perform data quality checks, identify data inconsistencies, and propose data cleansing strategies.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with leadership and stakeholders towards submission of data deliverables.
  • Collaborating with peers, to include Engineers, Quality Control Management, Safety Management, Configuration Management, and Logistics Team to determine areas of improvement in relation to data.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 

This is a full time, exempt position.

Must be a U.S citizen with the ability to possess a valid US DoD security clearance.
