Advanced Systems Group LLC (ASG) is looking for a data-driven, creative, and highly analytical Data Analyst to join our embedded Business Operations team at an ecommerce client to help shape the future of interactive shopping. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for analyzing the performance of live-streaming content, understanding viewer-to-shopper conversion funnels, and providing the evidence-based insights that drive our content investment strategy. The ideal candidate is someone who can find the needle in the haystack of big data and translate it into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.

This role reports on-site to our client's office in New York City, Monday through Friday. Only candidates local to the New York City area will be considered.

Responsibilities:
  • Insight Generation: Analyze large-scale datasets to identify trends in viewer engagement, product conversion, and talent performance across 1P, 3P, and FAST channels.
  • Business Reporting: Lead the weekly and monthly business review (WBR/MBR) reporting process, surfacing "the story behind the numbers" to explain variances in performance.
  • Experimental Design: Partner with Marketing and Product teams to design A/B tests for live-stream features and promotional strategies, measuring impact on customer acquisition and retention.
  • Strategic Deep Dives: Execute ad-hoc analyses on complex business problems, such as the impact of high-profile talent on "halo" sales or the optimal duration for live-stream segments.
  • Data Integrity: Audit data quality and work with the Engineering team to resolve upstream data gaps, ensuring a "single source of truth" for the Business Operations org.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a similar role (experience in media, e-commerce, or tech preferred).
  • Advanced SQL proficiency: Ability to write complex joins and window functions to extract data from massive distributed databases (Redshift, S3).
  • Statistical Foundation: Strong understanding of statistical concepts (e.g., hypothesis testing, regressions, probability) and their application to business problems.
  • Must be local to the New York City area and able to work on-site 5 days/week.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
  • Analytical Storytelling: Exceptional ability to communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences through written documents.
  • Technical Versatility: Proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation and automated reporting.
  • Industry Context: Deep interest in the creator economy, live-streaming, or the intersection of entertainment and commerce.
  • Ownership: A self-starter who can navigate ambiguity and identify opportunities for analysis without being prompted.
  • Experience with AWS services (Glue, Athena, Redshift) is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
This full-time role offers a salary of $120,000 -140,000 depending on experience.

At Advanced Systems Group, we prioritize an inclusive work environment and offer a variety of benefits to support our diverse team, including:
  • Comprehensive medical coverage with 3 different plans to fit your needs, and 100% of the employee medical premium covered by ASG.
  • Discounts on health and wellness programs, plus savings on travel and more.
  • Voluntary benefits including disability, accident, critical illness insurance, and pet insurance.
  • Employee Assistance Program offering counseling, financial coaching, and more.
