SUMMARY

 

​​The Data Analyst II is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data related to grant management and project performance. This role involves developing and maintaining dashboards to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and providing data-driven insights to support decision-making processes. The Data Analyst II plays a critical role in ensuring data integrity, supporting data management systems, and enhancing the overall data analysis capabilities within the organization. In the absence of a Financial Analyst, the Data Analyst may assume additional responsibilities related to financial data analysis.​

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather, process, and analyze data related to grant management and project performance. Use advanced analytical techniques to interpret complex data sets and provide insights that inform decision-making and strategic planning.
  • ​Dashboard Development and Maintenance: Design, develop, and maintain dashboards that track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to grants and project performance. Ensure dashboards are user-friendly, accurate, and provide real-time insights for stakeholders.
  • ​Data Management and Quality Assurance: Manage master data, including creation, updates, and deletion. Implement quality assurance protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of imported data. Work closely with quality assurance analysts to maintain data integrity.
  • ​Reporting and Documentation: Generate detailed analytical reports that summarize data findings, trends, and recommendations. Support the development of training materials and user guides for end-users. Ensure all reports and documentation comply with organizational standards and federal guidelines.
  • ​Collaboration and Technical Support: Collaborate with project managers, grant managers, and other stakeholders to support data-driven initiatives. Provide technical expertise on data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing. Assist with troubleshooting issues related to the reporting database environment.
  • System Management and Optimization: Manage and design the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata. Support the data warehouse by identifying and revising reporting requirements. Evaluate and implement new software solutions to enhance data analysis capabilities.
  • Training and User Support: Train end-users on new reports, dashboards, and data management tools. Provide ongoing support and technical assistance to ensure users can effectively utilize data insights for decision-making.
  • Confidential Data Handling: Ensure all data processing activities comply with federal privacy and confidentiality guidelines. Handle sensitive information with the highest level of security and discretion.​

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • ​​Proficient in data analysis, data management, and reporting tools.
  • ​Experience in developing and maintaining dashboards for tracking KPIs.
  • ​Strong knowledge of data integrity, data cleansing, and metadata standards.
  • ​Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • ​Strong technical skills in data storage, database management, and data mining.
  • ​Effective communication skills, capable of translating complex technical information into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
  • ​Proficiency in using software solutions for large-scale database management.​

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 

  • ​​Bachelor’s degree with 8-10 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 6-8 years of experience in data analysis, data management, computer science, or a related field.
  • Experience working with large data sets and relational databases is required.
  • ​Familiarity with grant management and project performance metrics is preferred.​

 

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

 

​​No direct supervisory responsibilities. However, the Data Analyst II may provide technical guidance and support to junior analysts or team members involved in data-related tasks.​

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

​​The work environment is primarily office-based, involving collaboration with team members and interaction with stakeholders, with occasional offsite meetings and travel as required.​
