Health Insurance Marketplace Reporting and Data Analyst

The Office of the Health Insurance Marketplace (OHIM), an office within the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, is seeking a data analyst to support state-based marketplace reporting, assessing performance, and informing operational and policy decision-making.

This position is a 40-hour per week full-time position with the possibility of hybrid-office-work from home location in Maine or fully remote. If fully remote, the position must be available during the hours of 8am – 5 pm Eastern Standard Time. The position is a temporary position through June 30, 2025, with the possibility of an extension.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Data Analysis: Analyze and manage data sets of varying size; assist in processing and cleaning data sets; synthesize findings from data analysis and present in tabular or visual form such as with Tableau or similar platform.
  • Operational Reporting: Follow reporting directions and on-time completion of template reporting forms for regulatory reporting and compliance. Maintain internal operational reporting and make recommendations for improvements in metrics and visualization.
  • Writing: Document reporting requirements for operational reporting. Communicate data analysis findings in the form of technical reports, memos, and presentations to OHIM leadership, and DHHS and external stakeholders.
  • Project Work: Coordinate with teams within OHIM and from across DHHS to collect, process, and synthesize data that helps to inform and guide sound operational decisions and policymaking.
  • Mission: Advance the Department’s mission to harness data and analytic resources to improve the health and well-being of all Mainers and to identify and reduce disparities across the state.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, political science, public health, psychology, or a related field, with quantitative coursework.
  • Data Analysis and Visualization: 3-5 years Tableau Desktop experience; Experience creating and maintaining moderately complex SQL statements; Experience with relatively complex data models.
  • Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to document reporting requirements. Ability to translate data analysis in ways that those who are less comfortable with such analysis can understand.
  • Time Management: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple tasks and projects at the same time.

Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.
