SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Data Analyst to join our Human Performance Optimization Program at Langley AFB in Hampton, VA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex data sets to provide actionable insights that support pilot training and performance optimization initiatives. He/she will be focused on enhancing the physical and cognitive capabilities of US Air Force Airmen through data analytics. The candidate must have some statistics data analytics skills and experience to interpret various forms of large complex datasets and present it in a useful and easy-to-understand manner This role is essential in driving data-driven decisions that enhance pilot readiness and operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities






ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Data Collection and Management:
    • Collect and manage large datasets from various sources, including physiological, cognitive, and operational performance metrics.
    • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across all data sources.
  2. Data Analysis and Interpretation:
    • Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that impact pilot performance.
    • Utilize statistical methods and data analysis tools to provide insights and recommendations.
  3. Reporting and Visualization:
    • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations that communicate key findings and performance metrics to stakeholders.
    • Present data insights in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences, including program managers, human performance specialists, and military leadership.
  4. Performance Monitoring:
    • Track and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to pilot training and operational readiness.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and interventions through data-driven analysis.
  5. Collaboration and Support:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including database programmers, human performance specialists, and vendors, to ensure data solutions meet program needs.
    • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high functioning environment.
    • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
    • Provide support and training to team members on data analysis tools and best practices.
  6. Predictive Modeling and Machine Learning:
    • Develop predictive models and machine learning algorithms to forecast performance outcomes and identify potential areas for improvement.
    • Apply advanced analytics techniques to enhance decision-making processes.
  7. Documentation and Compliance:
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data analysis processes, methodologies, and findings.
    • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and organizational policies.








Qualifications






QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. In lieu of degree, an active Data Science/Data Analytics certification(s) or training/certificate(s) obtained within the last 3 years.
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst or similar role, with a strong background in data collection, analysis, and visualization.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and Excel.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Strong statistical analysis skills and familiarity with statistical software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail, and solutions oriented.
  • Team oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail as reporting must be precise.
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports for non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to data dictionary, standards, and maintaining documentation.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable regarding customer needs and technology.
  • Experience working with performance data, particularly in a military or high-performance context.
  • Knowledge of human performance optimization and related technologies.
  • Understanding of or the ability to learn physiological and cognitive performance metrics.
  • Experience with machine learning and predictive analytics.

A National Background Investigation (NBIS) is required to obtain access to IT Systems with the possibility of a requirement to obtain a Secret clearance.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
