Role Overview - Data Analyst

The Law Society are looking to hire a dynamic governance focused data analyst to join the Data team within the IT section of F&O.

The post holder will support a yearly schedule of data and analytics reporting requirements, assist with ongoing and systematic data reviews and cleansing, extract and transform data to align to central reporting structures and engage with digital transformation projects which improve data management within the institution.

This post will require a candidate who understanding the intersections of business and data and ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the regulation, training and practising structure of the legal profession in Ireland as well as an approach which produces actionable output to business stakeholders and project teams.

Core responsibilities

  • Analysis and Interpretation: Interpretation of complex datasets and performing analysis to identify trends and alignment with KPI and departmental forecasts.
  • Data Cleansing: Support data and analytics function in extraction of data and performing data cleansing tasks to remove inconsistencies and ensure clean consistent data is maintained.
  • Development of dashboards, scheduled reports and creation of visualisations to support data-based reporting.
  • Pro-actively collaborate with stakeholders of all levels to ensure data use and reporting aligns to organisational goals and internal policies.
  • Undertaking data mapping exercises as required.
  • Engage with strategic projects as required.

 

skills and experience

  • Qualification or equivalent experience in data analytics, data science, statistics, computer science or a related discipline.
  • 1-3 years data analysis, business analyst, business intelligence, or analytics-focused role.
  • SQL for data extraction and transformation.
  • Experience with visualisation tools and advanced Excel.
  • Experience with lean methodologies for process efficiency.
  • Experience applying project management frameworks and change management methodologies.
  • Experience working with finance teams and predictive modelling.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings to business users of all levels.

 

Desirable qualifications and attributes

  • Experience in a regulatory, legal, or professional services.
  • Familiarity with predictive modelling.
  • Understanding of AI governance, ethical use of AI, and GDPR compliance.
  • Interest in digital transformation and AI trends in professional regulation.
