This role is 100% on-site in our Carmel, IN office.

The Data Analyst’s role is to design data modeling/analysis services used to mine enterprise systems and applications for knowledge and information that enhance business processes. This individual is responsible for assisting in building, deploying, and maintaining data support tools, metadata inventories, and definitions for database file/table creation.  The Data Analyst will also assist in the development and operation of the BI/data warehousing practice, including optimizing processes and technologies, and ensuring a high availability BI/data warehouse platform.   This individual will participate in defining data standards and warehouse architecture models.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy & Planning

  • Devise, develop, and deploy required data visualizations and underlying data queries in response to business user needs.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation to support usage of visualizations and queries
  • In conjunction with data owners and department managers, develop data models and protocols for mining production databases.
  • Assist in the development of data management policies and procedures.
  • Identify research questions, problem solve using data analysis, and communicate the results to various stakeholders
  • Ensure best practices are established for effective problem resolution for a high availability, 24/7, global environment.
  • Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the BI/EDW architecture.

Operational Management

  • Work with application development staff to coordinate the creation and management of data visualizations and queries.
  • Collaborate with unit managers, end users, development staff, and other stakeholders to integrate data management applications with existing systems.
  • Provide and apply quality assurance best practices for data analysis services across the organization.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to data models.
  • Create data definitions for new database file/table development and/or changes to existing ones.
  • Develop routines for end users to facilitate best-practice use of data management tools.
  • Monitor data management system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Diagnose and resolve data warehouse access and performance issues.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time and interact with computers, telephone and other electronic media.
  • Overtime hours may be required to meet project deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required.
  • Previous work experience delivering data and business intelligence solutions and integrations with a bias to best leverage existing applications and tools.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, on multiple projects.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong technical knowledge of data management systems, data warehousing methodology, data quality, data modelling, data governance, analytics, and predictive modeling.
  • Extensive knowledge of SQL, data manipulation languages, and Microsoft’s BI suite.
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment utilizing techniques such as code versioning (e.g. git), code review and agile software development
  • Proven experience in BI/data warehousing planning and development.
  • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Hands-on experience with data mining, large-scale data modeling, and business requirements gathering/analysis.
  • Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques.
  • Proven project management experience.
