What You Will Do:

 

The Data Analyst will be responsible for developing and executing on analyses and reporting to drive efficient and effective use of data for a wide variety of data initiatives and requests throughout the university. This position will work in collaboration with team members in the department to execute on the data strategy for the Strategic Data Center and wider university strategic initiatives.  This position will engage in various aspects of data collection, cleaning, analysis, metrics, visualizations, documentation, and presentations.  The data analyst will work to insure scalability, sustainability, and integrity within NLU data practices and policies.  This position will also be involved in knowing and carrying out NLU data governance policy and procedure.   









Essential Responsibilities






  • Complete data requests and produce various reports and dashboards in a variety of formats (Power BI, Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Conduct strategic analyses by querying, cleaning, manipulating, interpreting, visualizing, and presenting data using statistical techniques.
  • Fulfill various ad hoc data requests.
  • In collaboration with various University stakeholders, map data flows, business processes, and perform gap analysis.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 









Qualifications






  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Education, Statistics, Social Work, Public Policy, Business, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience manipulating large data sets with analytical software and/or coding languages (R, SQL, SAS, etc.)
  • 1-3 years of experience building data reports, dashboards, documentation, and presenting data findings.
  • 1-3 years of experience gathering and understanding data request specifications and delivering data products.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with data visualization/analytical software (Power BI, Tableau, SAS, etc.)
  • Analytical Thinking: Breaks down problems and issues into sub-components and then assesses the costs, benefits and risks of various options prior to selecting a particular approach.
  • Technical Skills: Possesses the technical skills and knowledge required to perform essential tasks in an efficient and effective manner. Demonstrates the willingness and ability to train or coach others in the technical arena.
  • Time Management: Prioritizes tasks and manages time to ensure that deadlines are met. Plans his or her time and sticks to those plans. Prevents or manages interruptions until the highest priority tasks are accomplished.
