Description

BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The role of the Data Analyst is to help support and grow SPR’s data ecosystem. The overall goal of the Data Analyst is to facilitate a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and front-end accessibility for end-users through reporting and analytics.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead SPR’s Data Quality and Governance initiatives by implementing proactive data quality checks and triaging data quality and integration discrepancies across applications and reports
  • Work with both technical and non-technical teams to gather requirements, ask clarifying questions, and contribute to root cause analysis efforts
  • Assist with managing and supporting SPR Master Data Management platform
  • Work with Operational Technology (SCADA) team to troubleshoot and address data quality issues
  • Manage ETL and procedural dependencies and scheduling
  • Help support SPR’s Data Lake and Warehouse in Azure Databricks environment
  • Develop new reports and dashboards based on business requirements
  • Troubleshoot data quality issues and identify resolution
  • Identify slow running queries and implement optimization
  • Manage and respond to tickets in ticketing system
  • Work with end users and IT project teams to facilitate best practices for data access, data consumption, code management, and data integration
Requirements

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years of relevant industry experience in data analysis, data management, or related field
  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry applications highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related job experience
  • Highly proficient in SQL
  • Python knowledge is a plus
  • Experience with Time Series Data Integration and Historians
  • Understanding of Master Data Management principles
  • Knowledge of SPR’s Azure Data stack technologies (Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, Databricks, PowerBI) is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft on-prem analytics and reporting stack (MSSQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) is a plus
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues, technology, and software products
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
