Job Summary:

The Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing, interpreting, and presenting various organizational datasets utilizing technical expertise to ensure data is accurate and high-quality. The Data Analyst will manage the research, development, and implementation of appropriate data systems that lead to improved business performance and achievement of the NMSU Foundation goals. Additionally, the Data Analyst will act as a subject matter expert in designing and recommending appropriate analytical approaches and methodology in addressing key issues within the organization while ensuring data hygiene and integrity.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide visibility into data-driven insights that inform the organization's strategic direction and KPIs.
  • Clean, analyze, interpret, and report NMSU Foundation data using different approaches.
  • Build, maintain, and improve the existing business intelligence and analytics tools across the department and the organization. 
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and devise data governance strategies.
  • Stay informed and keep up with the latest industry trends and best practices that he subsequently imparts to the data analytics personnel for constant growth and optimal departmental and business performance. 
  • Training Foundation staff and NMSU partners. 
  • Project manager with the ability to plan, organize, and lead data-related projects from initial design to completion.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

 Minimum Required Education, Knowledge, Experience & Certification/License:

  • Bachelor’s  Degree in related discipline.
  • Data  governance knowledge and understanding.
  • Experience with FTP, API and database management, including SQL querying.
  • Ability to create dashboards and reports that communicate insights to stakeholders using data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, and Crystal Reports.
  • Master level experience in Excel. 
  • Ability to convey findings, both written and oral, to non-technical      stakeholders. Including creating      reports and presentations that give insights from the data.
  • Ability to analyze data and explore it for insights. Including but not limited to      trend identification and projections.
  • Ability to recognize the ethical implications of data usage, storage, and      analysis, especially in terms of privacy and security.
  • Ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Preferred work experience in higher education advancement office or department. 
Salary Description
$55,000-$75,000 annually
