Commodities Data Analyst - Data Management

Within a global team of data analysts, data scientists, and content experts, across each of the client’s key geographic locations, the Investment Data Analyst will serve as a steward for all internal and external data content to provide actionable data to our Commodities business.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with our Data Sourcing & Strategy team, Portfolio Managers, Analysts and Data Vendors to assist in the delivery and evaluation of new datasets
  • Understand use cases of investors and serve as an in-house data expert across a wide range of datasets to translate requirements and design data models for appropriate storage, distribution and consumption
  • Take ownership and manage data onboarding requirements by authoring content documentation and working closely with Data Engineers to assist them with automating our data ingestion pipeline
  • Create and enhance python-based Data Quality Checks as part of the onboarding process to ensure data is suitable for consumption

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
  • A passion for data with experience in applying that to high quality data products in an investment setting
  • Ability to wrangle data and perform exploratory and systematic data analysis
  • Experience with Macro and Commodity data vendors
  • Understand the macro landscape and act as a source of expertise for the broader team, helping us become a true partner to the macro business.
  • Demonstrated track record of ownership, leadership, project management and ability to set and achieve the highest standards for the team
  • Experience working in an agile environment and with development teams to balance requests from across a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience in coding in python
  • Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases
  • Familiarity with AWS Product Suite including S3, Redshift, Spectrum and SNS a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences in mind
