Job Description

Primary role purpose:

The satellite industry is undergoing unprecedented changes as new entrants and technological advances fundamentally transform the market. To stay at the forefront of this fast-changing landscape, the Strategy and Growth Programmes team leads the charge for International Government in developing and executing strategies and plans that keep Viasat competitive in our markets today and into the future.

One such initiative is the Chorus programme, through which the International Government seeks to expand its satellite communications business in the global aeronautical market segment. We strive to provide a scalable, flexible, beyond-line-of-sight communication solution for regional operations to disseminate mission system data from airborne platforms to key end-users in real-time. The programme is expected to deliver a compelling platform-based solution for this segment backed by a comprehensive go-to-market and capture strategy.

The successful delivery of this programme is underpinned by the development of a digital platform for operating, monitoring, and controlling the product suite. The platform will be used by both internal operators and external customers, with different levels of access to its functionalities. The Technical Business role is essential in liaising with stakeholders and eliciting, analysing, and documenting the elements required to develop the Chorus Digital Platform.

Key responsibilities:

This role will be responsible for:

  • Defining a software product's primary purposes – CONUSE/CONOPS of Chorus products and services, specifically the Digital Platform
  • Examining unknown factors which define a business's problems
  • Performing system analyses of existing services, software programs and applications
  • Contributing to new advancements in systems and/or enterprise architecture
  • Integrating new systems and programs with business operations
  • Gathering and documenting the Digital platform and other systems and application’s technical requirements
  • Evaluating ways of implementing platform and other software products into business operations
  • Stakeholder mapping, if required
  • Assessing and improving front-facing portals and support services
  • Evaluating product licences and ensuring that they comply with industry regulations
  • Reporting to senior management and seeking approval for platform developments
  • Designing and maintaining customer portal support (service management workflow) and feedback channels
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and end-users to determine system and/or process efficiencies
  • Gathering requirements and acceptance criteria from management and end-users (all stakeholders)
  • Ensuring the Digital Platform has good end-user proficiency with other systems, programs and applications across all departments
  • Standardising and improving the software development process
  • Follow Viasat and industry best practices for documenting requirements and business process documentation such as BPM

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive experience in technical business analysis in a related industry
  • Requirements Gathering: Expertise in eliciting and documenting business requirements, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
  • Communication, written and verbal Skills: Strong communication skills to convey complex information in a clear and understandable manner and to interact with key stakeholders
  • System architecture: Knowledge of system design principles, allowing for the creation of robust and scalable solutions.
  • Data Analysis: Competence in data analysis tools and techniques, crucial for deciphering complex datasets.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proficiency in engaging and communicating with stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations
  • Ability to facilitate internal end-user proficiency
  • Advanced knowledge of Software programs, satellite industry, data security and encryption
  • Exceptional communication skills toward facilitating the use of new software systems
  • Ensuring optimal system functionality via integrated diagnostics

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in the satellite or telecom industry as a business analyst
