About the Position

Reporting directly to IT Lead – Content & Collaboration, the Technical Business Analyst role is based in the London office and will be expected to travel primarily within the continental United States and to Bermuda, with select travel to other RenRe offices (Dublin and and Zurich).

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Business Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both business analysis and technical expertise, with the ability to bridge the gap between business stakeholders, product owners and technical teams. The Technical Business Analyst will play a crucial role in gathering and analysing business requirements, translating them into technical specifications, and actively participating in the development and implementation of solutions that meet our business stakeholders needs. A strong focus on improving end user experience, driving process/team improvement, and enhancing productivity across business departments.

The role involves overseeing and managing multiple global projects with cross-departmental overlaps and team resources, necessitating collaboration with various teams across different time zones.  Requiring an active engagement with all business departments globally to enhance productivity throughout the company. Responsibilities include creating processes and workflows to optimize productivity within business departments, with a focus on understanding their operational needs and fostering cross-departmental collaboration. The role includes outlining an engagement framework and contributing to the overall strategy for the Content & Collaboration team when interfacing with different business departments.

In addition to this, the Technical BA will be expected to perform hands-on technical work, including but not limited to coding, scripting, system configuration, business process automation and troubleshooting. Furthermore, they will ensure that projects align with our internal organizational goals and strategic objectives, contributing to the overall success and growth of the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse business processes, workflows, systems, and data to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and product owners to understand their requirements and objectives with a view to translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications.

  • Drive productivity through strategic business engagements, leveraging the Content Steward network and steering group.

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between key stakeholders, product owners and technical teams throughout projects to ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions.

  • Drive collaborative efforts with senior stakeholders to develop scalable technology policies and frameworks that optimize efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Take the lead in planning, designing, and executing projects with global impact, actively managing resourcing, and ensuring their alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Enhance the engagement framework by developing and refining templates that outline all stages of business engagements, from initial contact to solution delivery.

  • Create and manage standardized baseline templates for engagements, ensuring consistency and efficiency in interactions with business teams.

  • Deliver end-user training sessions to ensure proficiency with new systems.

  • Effectively manage and prioritize team backlog items, ensuring alignment with project objectives and optimal resource allocation. Oversee personnel assignments and workloads to maintain project efficiency and meet strategic goals.

  • Regularly report project status, progress, risks, and issues to the IT Lead, while also providing recommendations and advisory support across various projects.

  • Organize, perform, and manage user acceptance testing of solutions to ensure they meet business requirements, documenting enhancements and issues, and transitioning them for further action.

  • Lead solution design sessions with technical staff, ensuring alignment with project goals.

  • Perform technical analysis and spikes, including API integration, system analysis, and code reviews/approvals.

  • Develop and implement automation scripts for data parsing and analysis, streamlining both business and technical processes and workflows.

  • Design and manage CI/CD pipelines and code repositories to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery where required.

  • Design, implement, and manage technical solutions using Azure, the Microsoft 365 suite, and other third-party tools, ensuring they align with business objectives.

  • Oversee and engage in data management activities, including data integration, transformation, and storage ensuring data quality and consistency across various data sources.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis for support issues.

  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for delivered solutions, liaising with technical teams such as IT support to reduce tickets and enhance knowledge awareness.

  • Manage and assist with reported issues and incidents, analyse logs, and recommend preventive actions.

  • Promote system efficiency and security through performance metrics and security best practices.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Project Manager and or Business Analyst in a technical environment, with a strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and present to large audiences.

  • Strong documentation skills, demonstrating proficiency in capturing and articulating complex technical and business concepts effectively.

  • Proven team leadership, coaching, staff development and mentoring skills.

  • Proficient in working autonomously with strong organizational skills.

  • Able to effectively manage and negotiate a wide range of challenges, including those that are poorly defined and where information is limited.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to define and achieve strategic outcomes, both independently and through collaboration with others not under direct supervision.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly grasp complex business and technical concepts.

  • Experience with requirements gathering, process mapping, and documentation.

  • Proficiency in tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Office Suite, Jenkins and or GitHub and are preferred.

Advantageous To Have

  • Robust technical acumen, encompassing experience in interpreting, writing, and managing code and associated repositories.

  • Experience to write scripts for automations, feature management and remediations where required in PowerShell and or Python are preferred.

  • Experience working as a DevOps engineer with a proven track record of defining and achieving strategic outcomes both independently and through collaboration with others not under direct supervision.

  • Experience working with multi-tier application architectures, including APIs that perform orchestrations, APIs that abstract away legacy complexity, and front-end experiences that consume endpoints from one or many micro-services.
