Responsibilities

The ESTech Analytics team is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join us on our quest to deliver insights and advanced analytic solutions to the E&S Segment. We are consultants helping our business partners leverage the power of modern analytics. In this role, you’ll use your critical thinking, data, and quantitative skills to generate and communicate insights that deliver tangible business value. You’ll have the opportunity to engage with partners across functional areas such as underwriting, marketing, claims, technology, actuarial, and operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide analysis and insight to support strategic business decisions
  • Conduct analysis of key business drivers, trends, and performance indicators to provide actionable input
  • Lead analytic projects by defining requirements, success criteria and engaging stakeholders
  • Explore, understand, and transform structured data sets so they can be used to deliver business value (querying SQL databases and converting data into meaningful information)
  • Engage with internal clients to define project goals, propose solutions and success criteria
  • Develop presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to senior management
  • Data visualization: use Power BI and Excel to create dashboards and reports that can be leveraged by companies across the segment

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a data analyst, financial analyst, operations analyst or similar role
  • Proficient at structuring, executing and presenting analyses
  • Collaboration – functions well as part of a team and has a history of building effective relationships across organizational boundaries
  • Curiosity – possesses a discovery mindset and enjoys exploring using data
  • Driven – dedicated to finding solutions
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Reliability – fair, impartial, and trustworthy
  • Comfortable with ambiguity on projects – can navigate unknowns and operate in white space; works backwards from the business goal to develop an action plan
  • Engagement – ability to work with stakeholders from business areas
  • Strong verbal communication skills – can synthesize data and distill insights for non-technical audiences
  • Desired skills: SQL queries, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, visualization tool (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Education: bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Math, Engineering, Physics, etc.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Commercial P&C insurance knowledge
