Role Title: Senior Product Data Analyst

Location: Cork, Ireland - Hybrid

Role Overview:

As a Lead Product Data Analyst, you will be the first dedicated data analyst at Canto and play a foundational role in shaping how data is used to inform product decisions.

You will work in a complex, evolving data landscape with multiple systems of record. Your mission will be to turn this imperfect reality into trusted, actionable insights that guide product strategy, UX decisions, and business prioritisation.

This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with Product Management, UX, Engineering, and leadership. You will help define core product metrics, build meaningful reporting, surface data quality issues, and establish the building blocks of a long-term “system of insight” for the business. The ideal candidate is comfortable with ambiguity, enjoys ownership, and is motivated by impact rather than just reporting output.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and evolution of Product Insight reports and dashboards that enable data-driven product decision-making.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and quality issues across data sources, and collaborate with Engineering and other teams to improve data reliability and trust.
  • Navigate and connect multiple systems of record (e.g. product telemetry, CRM, support, analytics tools) to create a more cohesive and actionable “system of insight.
  • Define, document, and evolve core product and UX metrics that are consistently used to inform roadmap prioritization, discovery, and design decisions
  • Partner closely with Product Managers and key stakeholders to understand analytical needs, translate requirements into meaningful metrics, and deliver tailored reporting solutions.
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards using data from both relational and document-based data sources, ensuring solutions are scalable, performant, and aligned to business needs.
  • Collaborate with Architecture and Engineering teams to recommend, implement, and optimise data storage, reporting, and visualisation tools and practices.
  • Own data quality across reporting outputs by ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity of underlying data and metrics.
  • Communicate insights and findings clearly through written reports, dashboards, and presentations, adapting messaging for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve data exploration, self-service analytics, and reporting processes as business and product needs evolve.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the wider business on data integrity, integration, reporting standards, and best practices.

Qualifications & experiences required to be successful in this role:

  • 7+ years' experience in Data Analysis, creating reports and dashboards from scratch
  • 5+ years analyzing data across multiple systems of record, including both relational and semi-structured data sources.
  • Experience acting as an early or first data hire, helping to establish analytics standards, metrics, or ways of working.
  • Strong understanding of product development processes and experience partnering with Product and UX teams to support decision-making through data.
  • Experience working in cloud-first environments (e.g. AWS) and familiarity with data storage, querying, and analytics services.
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight, or similar).
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analyses and actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain data clearly and persuasively to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Significant experience in product or business data analysis, with strong proficiency in SQL and working with complex data models.
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools and data pipelines (e.g. Fivetran or similar) used to centralize data for analytics.
  • Experience working with APIs, webhooks, or automation tools (e.g. n8n or similar) to connect systems and improve access to data.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, taking ownership, and proactively identifying and addressing issues without needing a fully defined data stack or process.

Nice to Haves:

  • Background in SaaS, B2B products, or product-led growth environments.
  • Experience contributing to the creation of a centralized “system of insight” across fragmented data sources.
