American National is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support our P&C Underwriting Division. The Senior Business Analyst position is right for you if you have previous Business Analyst experience and are ready to step into large-scale projects while mentoring other Business Analysts on the team. In this role, you will work independently while also enjoying the support of a highly collaborative, cross-functional team! Please note this is an in-office position in Albany, NY, or Springfield, MO. 

 

 

What Will You Do?

•    Elicits, identifies, and documents written business requirements and user acceptance testing criteria for department service requests and projects and collaborates with other business area BAs to assist in doing the same for product or large strategic initiatives. 

•    Validates requirements match the intention of the stakeholder’s needs, assesses that requirements demonstrate value, and communicates the advantages/disadvantages of alternate solutions when applicable.

•    Utilize excellent written and verbal skills to communicate recommended solutions, weighing risks, benefits, and potential value.

•    Investigates and uses data analytics to determine how solutions or processes are performing after deployment and recommends improvements to support change management or maximize efficiencies as applicable.

•    Identifies alternatives and actions including replacing/retiring/enhancing a solution or adjusting the organization to allow for maximum solution performance and value recognition.

•    Serves as a liaison between underwriting and other business areas (such as Computer Technology Services (CTS), product, actuarial, agencies, training, compliance, claims, billing, call center, client experience, etc.) and collaborates effectively.

•    Mentors other Business Analysts, assisting in supporting consistent business analysis practices across all projects and lines of business.

 


 

Qualifications 

•    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred

•    Scrum Certification, or Business Analyst designation desired

•    Five or more years of industry or business analyst work experience

•    Expert knowledge in business analysis and can train others effectively

•    Proven ability to creatively approach situations with innovative thinking

•    Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels and business areas in the organization

•    Possesses effective conflict resolution skills

•    Strong technical aptitude, proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).  Experience with SharePoint, Azure DevOps, and Duck Creek is beneficial

•    Must be highly organized, self-driven, results-oriented, visionary thinker with a clear focus on quality.  



 


 


 


Salary for this position can range from $75,000 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $90,000 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.
