Senior Data Engineer (80-100%)

In this role in Digital & Technology Re you will take the role of the tech lead in key strategic projects and be part of a wider Data & Analytics team working on the delivery of complex data products that underpin the operations and underwriting excellence of Swiss Re. You will work in a multi-functional environment with projects spanning the entire breadth of Swiss Re's reinsurance business.
Key responsibilities:

Act as the tech lead for data & analytics projects and partner with our business functions and senior management

Support the Product & Delivery lead in the delivery of data products

Design and implement data products in collaboration with data users and other engineering teams

Ensure reliability, quality and optimal performance of our data products

Transpose complex business and analytics requirements into high-quality data assets

Deliver high-quality code, focusing on simplicity, performance and maintainability

Work within one or more scrum teams with solution engineers, data scientists and product owners to deliver end to end products

Support our partners with proof of concept initiatives and data related technical questions
About You

Excellent software/data engineering skills and proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred)

Expertise in distributed computing frameworks, Spark a must have with others being an advantage

Experience with CI/CD processes for data as well as data testing and monitoring

Experience with system design, data structures, algorithms, storage systems, and cloud infrastructure

Strong understanding of data modelling and data architecture concepts

Motivated to work effectively in diverse teams with both technical and non-technical individuals, in a highly dynamic environment

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, being able to describe complex technical concepts and results in a clear and detailed manner to non-technical audiences

'Can-do' mentality focused on delivering value for the business

Proficient in English, other languages are a plus
Nice to have

Working knowledge of advanced analytics (i.e. Machine Learning, Statistics)

Experience in Palantir Foundry and Azure

Experience in insurance/reinsurance or financial industry
