How You Will Contribute:

As a Senior Data Analyst reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Analytics, your role will involve collaborating with the business to gather requirements, analyzing data patterns, designing solutions, and providing analytics and reports using different reporting tools. Your primary objective will be to assist the business in extracting valuable insights from data. It is essential for you to have experience with reporting platforms, a strong understanding of data modeling techniques, operational reporting, analytics, and data engineering systems. You will closely collaborate with the business, data engineering team, data visualization/report developers, and UX team to deliver exceptional products that offer data insights through high-quality visuals.

  • Collaborate with teams such as data visualization, data engineering, UX, and various business departments including Finance, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Software, Services, and Sales to gain a comprehensive understanding of business requirements.
  • Analyze data patterns, present it back to business to refine the requirement.
  • Translate and document business analytical needs into detailed requirements for data visualization developers / data engineers.
  • Develop and maintain analytics roadmap and works on data projects that spans multiple technologies.
  • Owns design, data models, development, and timelines for delivery of data visualization dashboard pulling data from data warehouse (Snowflake) or other sources.
  • Interacts closely with matrixed cross-functional teams (business and IT) to secure alignment.
  • Provide guidance to junior staff on data model design, BI tool best practices, and code review.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a relevant field.
  • Excellent understanding of business concepts, data analysis, and the ability to effectively communicate and translate stakeholder requirements into delivery plans.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in building robust data models, dashboards, and reports using analytical tools such as Power BI and Looker, with a focus on promoting self-serve analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of Snowflake SQL and DBT ETL is highly advantageous.
  • Deep understanding of data governance and management principles, with a strong emphasis on documentation and scalability across cross-functional teams.
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to work independently, prioritize workloads, and manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a team player mentality, customer focus, and the ability to collaborate and think critically are essential.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual pay range for this position in US is 108,900 - 173,900 USD.

The annual pay range for this position in Canada is 88,900 - 141,900 CAD.


Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

 

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
