Project Data Analyst

Wood are recruiting for a Project Data Analyst to deliver accurate, timely and well structured data analysis and business intelligence in support of project and operational decision making, working under the guidance of more senior members of the Project Data Analytics team.

The Role

In this role you will be responsible for collecting, integrating, and analysing data from multiple delivery systems, and for developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, and supporting analytics assets using Microsoft Power BI and related tools.

Through hands‑on delivery and collaboration with project teams, you will contribute to improve understanding of project performance across project management, project controls, engineering, HSE, and quality functions. You will actively develop technical capability, domain knowledge, and professional confidence, progressing from defined tasks towards greater autonomy over time.

• Supporting the delivery of data analysis and reporting activities across project and operational teams
• Collecting, integrating, and consolidating data from multiple operational systems under defined guidance
• Cleaning, validating, and transforming data to ensure accuracy and consistency for reporting and analysis
• Developing, testing, and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards, and supporting datasets in line with agreed standards
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of business intelligence architectures, including Power BI dataflows and semantic models
• Providing analytical support to internal and external stakeholders, responding to clearly defined requirements and scopes
• Participating in proofs of concept and improvement initiatives to build experience with new tools, techniques, and approaches
• Applying data governance, data quality, and security requirements to assigned analytical outputs
• Escalating issues, risks, or uncertainties appropriately to Senior or Lead Project Data Analysts

Expected:

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent in a data-oriented field like Software Engineering, Statistics, or Computer Science and / or a qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Process engineering is preferred but not essential
• Industry experience demonstrating results within the function
• Understanding of how engineering projects are conducted is essential, in particular how data plays a part in driving project delivery and solving the problems of project managers, project controls and engineering teams on a day-to-day basis
• Proven application of skills and ability to design effective reports or dashboards to help drive the delivery of project teams, and inform data driven decision making
• Strong experience in Microsoft Power BI, including Power BI Dataflows and PL-300 Certification
• Experience in Microsoft Fabric
• Understanding of data modelling best practices e.g. normalisation, schematisation
• Understanding of software development practices
• Understanding of software development methodologies e.g. Scrum, Kanban
• Strong experience in Microsoft Excel
• Experience in Microsoft Power Apps
• Experience in Microsoft Power Automate, including Power Automate Desktop
• Experience in Microsoft Dataverse
• Experience in Microsoft SharePoint, in particular creating and maintaining SharePoint Lists and Document Libraries.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organisation including experience of communicating technical information to a non-technical audience
