Principal IT Data Analyst

The Role

As Principal Data Analyst you will lead the current state analysis to support the design and implementation of core infrastructural capabilities for our next generation Fidelity Brokerage Services Incorporated (FBSI) brokerage platforms. You will work with brokerage leaders and partners across business, architecture and technical teams with responsibility for developing analytics insights that drive solution recommendations for the platform’s core components. We are looking for candidates with a bachelor’s degree and 6-8+ years of related experience in data analysis, data engineering or systems analysis or a master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.

The Expertise and Skills you bring

  • You have strong technical experience leading significant data or BI related projects in the areas of requirements gathering, analysis, interpretation and translation to data solutions. You are skilled at effectively defining use cases and simplifying complex concepts.
  • Strong proficiency designing and developing high value actionable BI reports using PowerBI or Tableau.
  • You have excellent data analysis and data profiling skills with an in-depth understanding of SQL or Python. You can independently wrangle enterprise datasets to obtain business insights and validate the impact of changes to datasets and data models on relational, graph or NoSQL database platforms.
  • Proven experience navigating, influencing and working across business, technical and architecture teams enabling new data insights and delivering data solutions.
  • You have expertise in data modelling techniques (relational, dimensional, graph) and the application of best practices when building data solutions. You can identify alternative approaches and make recommendations on the benefits and shortcomings of each approach.
  • You think strategically, understand and communicate sophisticated concepts effectively to a variety of audiences, both technical and non-technical. You make the complicated simple.
  • You are a continuous learner, interested in mastering new skills, keeping current on the latest innovations and experienced developing data analytics proof of concepts.
  • You are a critical and strategic thinker, readily take ownership and accountability, and are known as a go-getter with the ability to unravel a mystery whether data, business process or organizational.
  • You have excellent communication and presentation skills, with an ability to cultivate relationships across organizational and functional boundaries.
  • Ideally you have prior experience with on prem enterprise databases to cloud migrations and are familiar with DevOps, CI and CD practices including pipeline development and data movement technologies within the AWS or Azure cloud environment.
  • You possess good working knowledge of brokerage or financial services.

The Team

You will be part of the End to End Analysis and Consumption team responsible for performing current state analysis of the brokerage platforms as part of our FBSI modernization program. The team has goals of developing the approaches and systems that inventory and analyze the interconnectedness and dependencies of mainframe and cloud-based platforms. The area will span across code base, data stores and job control. Specifically, the team is tasked with developing the analytics insights and recommendations necessary to assist the architecture strategy and engineering drive towards a cloud-hosted platform and capability model brokerage platform.
