Job Summary: 

The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of Oracle databases across multiple environments. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of database architecture, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Oracle DBA will collaborate with IT teams to ensure database integrity, availability, and security, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of database operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle database software and related products.
  • Monitor and maintain the health and performance of Oracle databases, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Perform database tuning and optimization to enhance performance and resource utilization.
  • Implement and manage database security policies, including user account management, access control, and encryption.
  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies, including regular testing of backup and recovery procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data corruption.
  • Collaborate with application developers and IT teams to optimize database design, queries, and performance.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Monitor and manage database storage, including capacity planning and performance management.
  • Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patching activities.
  • Conduct regular database audits and performance assessments to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide 24/7 support for critical production systems, including participation in on-call rotations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator in a production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle architecture, including RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and RMAN.
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for database monitoring and management.
  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL scripting for database administration tasks.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery procedures using RMAN and other tools.
  • Knowledge of Oracle security best practices, including user management, roles, and privileges.
  • Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and database indexing.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting.
  • Experience with cloud-based Oracle environments (e.g., Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS for Oracle) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM)
  • ITIL Foundation Certification
