Title: Junior Data Analyst
Location: Virginia Beach, VA- 23456
Duration: 6 Months


Systems Analyst Job Duties:
 



  • Supports digital equity project tasks that pertains to reviewing global frameworks and concept mapping to Virginia Beach community and Hampton Roads region 

  • Supports data aggregation, cleaning, wrangling, preparation and use basic skills to analyze and formulate city data using statistical and other methods to provide insights through data and predictive analytics 

  • Supports creation of visualizations through story telling of data derived from emerging Internet of things (IoT) sensor technologies and open data registries with data pertaining to Smart Cities 

  • Supports creation of basic governance model concepts and documentation for climate resilience through the creation of and engaging in support of communication and branding 

  • Supports research in identifying disparate variables to support and bring resilience to underserved communities in closing the digital divide and other community needs gaps through innovative ideas aligning with the sustainable goals 

  • Supports research in review and creation of parameters that influence and enhance biodiversity and biophilic nature of the city through review of the biodiversity index and identification of multiple factors with a local perspective 

  • Supports and provides feedback of Accelerated Analytics

  • Familiar with machine learning using scripting languages such as Python, R, or similar.

  • Familiar with visualization tools and cloud environments.

  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.



Minimum/Special/Additional Requirements: 






Preferred Qualifications:



  • Degree in fields related to Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Econometrics, Management or related.6+ years proven experience in science, management, math, modeling, and statistics to drive significant impact and communication through story telling for digital equity and smart city projects

  • Good business acumen and scientific understanding of data and parameters influencing climate resilience through science with strong ability to solve business problems through data driven quantitative analysis

  • Strong familiarity and experience with data preparation, data wrangling and processing – such as assessment of data quality, and dimensionality reduction, etc.

  • Capable of delivering creative analysis, solutions and socializing complicated concepts to both technical and non-technical partners

  • Basic knowledge in SQL or other programming languages such as python. Some development experience in at least one scripting language.

  • Basic familiarity with relational databases and SQL-like query languages methodologies and provide concise thoughts into proposals, recommendations and findings

  • Demonstrated strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
