Job Summary

The IT Data Analyst reports to the Director of IT Data Analytics.  Primary responsibility will be to develop data visualizations and analysis in accordance with MAA data management principles.  Aligns to and functions as a business partner to one or more departments to prioritize department initiatives and work to develop solutions that support the department initiatives to meet MAA business objectives. Assists assigned department(s) in realizing business goals by leveraging specific data pipelines and associated technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops integrated operational reports, analytic models and visualizations sourced from centralized data stores or warehouse.Shapes data available for dashboards to identify solutions and support business cases and storytelling.

  • Promotes and facilitates the integrity and availability of applied analytics.

  • Captures, documents, and executes business analysis requirements to accurately measure business performance.

  • Leverages analytics to identify business and department opportunities (e.g., optimize spending, reduce operating expenses).

  • Formats data visualizations and presentations which adhere to data management standards and communicate compelling data stories.

  • Work with business partners to promote understanding and utilization of data driven business analysis.

  • Develops, promotes and supports mature analytic capabilities in a business context to include predictive, prescriptive, and cognitive analytic capabilities over time.

  • Assists with ad hoc reporting and data analysis projects as needed.

  • Monitors technology trends and maintains professional and technical competencies.

  • Participates in peer code reviews and coordinates user acceptance testing to ensure specified acceptance criteria have been completed.

  • Follows and adheres to established development lifecycle and change management standards and practices.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, marketing, or related field required

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a business intelligence or data analysis role required

  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be acceptable

  • Experience developing analytic data models and visualizations in a business context required

  • Data source administration and optimization experience for data driven analysis required

  • Configuration experience with web analytic platforms required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Power BI experience preferred

  • SQL Server Analytics Services (SSAS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) preferred

  • Previous experience within the real estate industry preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Data analytic and visualization development skills in a Microsoft environment (PowerBI, SQL Server, SQL Server Analytic Services, and Azure)

  • Data source management knowledge and skills that elevates digital personalization capabilities without compromising consumer privacy

  • Expertise with analytic constructs customer journey mapping, competitive analysis, and demographics

  • Skill and ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing, including with non-technical audiences

  • Skill in applying critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving methods

  • Skill in attending to detail and data accuracy validation

  • Skill in managing projects, organizing, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines

  • Technical proficiency and transferable skills with applications to quickly learn, adopt and use data analytic tools for specific business functions

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), SQL, SRSS
