The Finance Change Team provides expertise, management, and coordination of the Finance portfolio of change, developing internal proposals into light business cases as well as supporting strategic projects and programmes, in line with best practice guiding principles.  Members of the Finance Change Team partner with multiple stakeholders to provide support, guidance, and delivery, managing impacts, risks and issues and readiness activities to ensure change is smoothly implemented, and that the lasting benefits achieved and measured, contributing to the overall success of the business.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced Finance Change Data Analyst to support our Finance BAU operational teams to enhance the analysis of data, lineage, visualisations and reconciliations within the BAU operational processes.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance leads and sponsors, be outcomes driven and have a deep understanding of finance processes and data analytics within general insurance. They will also have demonstrable experience in similar previous roles, be a qualified accountant, be able to hit the ground running in a fast-moving environment and have experience with Finance projects or transformation programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to a Senior Finance Change Manager, this role will primarily work with the key Finance stakeholders and IT Business Analysts (BAs) and developers, analysing Financial Data, preparing and documenting “as is” and “to be” processes and updating training materials to support Readiness activities. 

The candidate will work with the TMHCC SME Leads to build an understanding of current state, documenting impact analysis and designing new ways of working and providing high quality artefacts to support decision making, audit and sign off.

  • Furthermore, they will have to be able to clearly articulate their approach and deliverables for the following activities: -
  • Working closely with Finance stakeholders to understand the business, Finance requirements, capabilities and processes.
  • Representing Finance to ensure the target solution and deliverables will meet requirements.
  • Analysing large volumes of Financial Data from multiple sources to determine data accuracy and highlighting discrepancies to Finance stakeholders and Programme IT Developers and BAs
  • Communicating data analysis to IT Developers and Business Analysis to facilitate development of Finance data and remediation of any defects.
  • Analysing the existing finance data requirements and ensure the new solution satisfies and/or enhances the application of the data within Finance. 
  • Supporting the end-to-end successful delivery of user stories, working closely with onshore and offshore teams.
  • Creating clear and concise deliverables to ensure project objectives are well understood and successfully completed.
  • Using analysis tools to streamline data processes and create dashboards & heatmaps within Finance for key reporting requirements
  • Providing and sharing knowledge, experience and ideas to help drive the team forwards.
  • Establishing effective communication and collaboration across all Finance impacted areas and stakeholders.
  • Assisting in the documentation of new ways of working and training materials to support readiness activities.
  • Providing support in testing and readiness activities.

Skills and Experience Specification:

Essential:

The successful candidate will be an experienced Finance Change Data Analyst with a data delivery focus and have demonstrable experience of delivering change in the Finance function within the Insurance Industry. 

  • Finance qualification
  • Demonstrable experience in General Insurance, ideally within Specialty Commercial and London Markets.
  • Good interaction and communication skills to quickly establish rapport with Finance technical SME personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to explore and challenge sensitively, mindful of organisational history and culture.
  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end policy journey and the Finance & Insurance business capability model.
  • Excellent documentation skills to create clear business level definitions in diagrams and written form.
  • Experience of data quality frameworks and assessing data quality/data defects.
  • Demonstrable experience of process analysis gained on reporting and migration projects.
  • Demonstrable experience of documenting process flows.
  • Demonstrable experience of gathering requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and documenting new ways of working.
  • Demonstrable experience of producing training materials.
  • Demonstrable experience of analysis of accounting data.
  • Advanced Excel skills (including PowerPivots) and Power BI configuration skills

Desirable:

  • A recognised Portfolio Management qualification e.g. MoP qualification
  • Experience in Prince2 or APM methodology
  • Strong MS Office skills specifically Project, PowerPoint and Word
  • Understanding and experience of Finance focussed data models using conceptual data modelling techniques as a key communication tool
  • SQL experience
