DescriptionWSP is seeking an Early Career Project Controls & KPI Data Analyst to support the development, governance, and continuous improvement of project performance reporting across complex infrastructure programs. This position is hybrid and open to our West Palm Beach FL, Fort Lauderdale-FL, Boston MA office locations.
This Opportunity
This role sits at the intersection of project controls, KPI management, and data analytics, supporting WSP’s Power Constructors, Inc. Commercial Management function. It supports the design, automation, and reporting of performance metrics across cost, schedule, quality, and value dimensions. The successful candidate will work closely with Commercial, Project Controls, PMO, and technical teams to transform project data into clear, decision‑ready insights through structured KPI frameworks and dashboards.
This position is ideally suited to a graduate or early‑career analyst with strong analytical foundations, hands‑on Power BI capability, and an interest in applying data science principles to real‑world engineering and capital projects. The role offers exposure to formal KPI management frameworks used on major infrastructure programs, providing a strong foundation for progression within project controls and performance management.

Your Impact
You will contribute directly to how project performance is measured, monitored, and communicated by supporting project management teams in the construction or engineering sector through data analytics and visualization, with a focus on early-career development in project controls.
KPI & Performance Management
- Supporting the implementation and maintenance of structured KPI frameworks across project controls functions (schedule, cost, quality, commercial).
- Assisting in the collection, validation, and consolidation of KPI data from multiple project data sources.
- Supporting periodic KPI reporting cycles (monthly and quarterly), including preparation of scorecards and performance summaries for internal and client reporting.
Dashboard Development & Data Visualization
- Designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards that visualize project KPIs, trends, variances, and performance drivers.
- Translating technical project data into clear, intuitive visual narratives suitable for project managers and senior stakeholders.
- Supporting continuous improvement of dashboards based on user feedback and evolving project requirements.
Data Analysis & Automation
- Analyze project data from various sources, including schedules, budgets, and progress reports, to identify trends, variances, and potential risks, using data analytics techniques to provide actionable insights.
- Maintain data integrity by cleaning, validating, and updating datasets in tools like Power BI, Excel, or related software, while adhering to best practices in data governance.
- Writing and maintaining SQL queries and structured data extracts to support KPI reporting and analytics workflows.
- Performing exploratory and statistical analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and performance risks within project datasets.
- Supporting automation of recurring reports and data pipelines to improve efficiency and data quality.
Reporting & Governance Support
- Assisting in the preparation of structured performance reports aligned to agreed KPI definitions/performance definitions and governance standards.
- Supporting data quality assurance through validation, reconciliation, and audit ready documentation.
- Working collaboratively with project controls, commercial, and planning teams to ensure KPI data reflects approved baselines and current project status.
Process Improvement
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project controls processes by suggesting enhancements to dashboards, analytics methods, or reporting workflows.
Training and Support - Provide basic training and support to team members on Power BI usage and data interpretation to foster a data‑driven culture.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, finance, or a related discipline.
- 0 to 1 year of relevant post education experience in project controls or related areas.
- Basic understanding of project phases and how scope, schedule, and cost interact to affect project outcomes.
- Familiarity with the purpose and structure of baseline budgets, project schedules, and progress tracking reports.
- Ability to understand and apply project control concepts such as budget tracking, forecasting, earned value, and change control.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to use formulas, pivot tables, and charts for data analysis and reporting.
- Willingness to learn scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project and financial tools such as Deltek or Oracle.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in data entry and report formatting.
- Ability to follow templates, procedures, and standardized workflows to ensure consistency across deliverables.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical and financial information clearly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with professionals from multiple disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Curiosity and initiative in learning about project control methods and best practices.
- Comfort handling sensitive or confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Understanding of basic accounting concepts such as cost, revenue, variance, and cash flow.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree.
- Familiarity with project controls software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or Deltek Cobra.
