Who We Need
As a remote Data Scientist/Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing our data infrastructure and analytics capabilities. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for leveraging data for business solutions, ensuring that our data systems are scalable, reliable, and ready to meet the evolving needs of the organization. The Data Scientist/Engineer will be working remotely on an internal, cross-functional Sabel Agile team comprised of Model-Based Systems Engineers, Scrum Masters, Jira/Confluence Subject Matter Experts, a Full Stack Developer and an Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer. The Data Scientist/Engineer must be able to work independently as well as brainstorm innovative solutions with teammates via MS Teams calls, chat and email. The ideal candidate will be motivated to learn and continuously improve and grow as a team. Company-paid travel to customer site in Los Angeles to provide product demonstrations may be on occasion - no more than 10% travel per year.

Responsibilities:
- Project Engagement: Collaborate with project teams to understand their needs and provide technical expertise in data and analytical tools. Conduct remote and/or in-person product demonstrations, as . Create product how-to guides or presentations, as requested by manager, proofreading for correctness and ensuring proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation prior to release to customer.
- Systems Design: Work with multi-disciplinary teams to design and develop data infrastructures, ensuring that data models are scalable and readily available.
- Data Management: Continuously address data models by wrangling and cleansing data, improving data solutions and platforms to meet initiatives and technical readiness requirements.
- Analytics Availability: Ensure that relevant data and analytics are accessible to support strategic initiatives, addressing gaps and enhancing data integrity.
- Emerging Technologies: Explore and integrate emerging capabilities in machine learning, facilitating collaboration between data scientists, functional specialists, and stakeholders. Ability to independently research potential solutions and share knowledge with teammates.
- Collaboration: Partner with product, engineering, and business teams to identify data needs and provide analytical support for strategic initiatives. Attend daily stand-ups (DSUs), Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and any other team meetings on time. Manage individual daily work tasks within a Jira board. Collaborate with customers and/or teammates over MS Teams or email.
- Documentation: Create clear documentation for data processes, models, and systems to ensure knowledge transfer and best practices.
- Communication: Maintain professional communications and appearance with customers and team members, responding to emails and participating in MS Teams calls and chat appropriately.

Your Qualifications
- Strong spoken and written English skills
- Master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field with 6 years' experience
- Proficient MS Office 365 User
- Proven experience in data engineering and/or data science, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or SQL, with experience in data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas, Spark)
- Strong understanding of data concepts and best practices, with the ability to design and implement effective data solutions
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, scikit-learn)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to telework with clear phone and internet connectivity
- Ability to obtain minimum of Secret level security clearance, will upgrade to TS
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Desired
- DoD knowledge / experience
- Experience with Atlassian products, such as Jira and Confluence
- DevOps experience, to include Git and CI/CD
- Experience with Agile methodology, Scrum and Kanban
