Lucid is currently seeking a Data Engineer II, Vehicle Test Instrumentation for our Vehicle Development team. Our mission is to lead the planning and execution of all vehicle level development tests to ensure we are delivering a quality product that meets customer needs. The candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing data analysis capabilities and optimizing current data processing, analysis and reporting workflows to support the development of our electric vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:



  1. Setup and Configuration:

    1. Configure instrumentation setups and data loggers for vehicle testing.

    2. Support standardization of test setups and vehicle loadout configurations to ensure consistency and reliability of data.

    3. Support troubleshooting and resolution of instrumentation issues on test vehicles that arise.

    4. Travel and support all test trips both domestically and internationally as required.



  2. Data Storage & Management:

    1. Create and manage the cloud database for all data with Metadata for all teams to enable fast and easy access to test data.



  3. Data Utilization and Insights:

    1. Enhance data utilization from cloud platforms like Grafana or Kibana and other data sources/loggers on vehicles to capture necessary trends and insights.

    2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key performance indicators and develop dashboards, reports, and visualization tools that provide data-driven insights.



  4. Automation of Data Analysis:

    1. Develop scripts and algorithms in SQL, Matlab, Python, VBA, and CAPL (Vector) to automate data analysis processes.

    2. Improve efficiency in data analysis by implementing automation techniques and optimizing existing workflows.

    3. Develop workflows and tools to cleanse, transform, and integrate diverse datasets from various sources, including vehicle signals, additional sensors and telemetry/DAQ systems.

    4. Optimize data processing workflows and infrastructure performance to ensure real-time or near-real-time processing capabilities, enabling efficient analysis and decision-making.



  5. Standardized Reporting:

    1. Design and develop standardized sets of dashboards, plots, and reporting templates for test data analysis.

    2. Streamline the process of generating reports to provide timely and actionable insights to stakeholders.



  6. Quality Assurance and Testing:

    1. Implement data quality checks, validation processes, and monitoring tools to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of vehicle testing data.



  7. Collaboration and Communication:

    1. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, Data Science & IT teams to understand data requirements, prioritize tasks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.



  8. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

    1. Document data engineering processes, best practices, and technical specifications to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure the reproducibility of analyses and workflows.




Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.

  • 2+ experience in data engineering roles, preferably in the automotive industry or a related field.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab, Python, VBA and CAPL, with a focus on data processing and analysis.

  • Strong understanding of distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop) and cloud-based data technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and SQL query optimization.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based data tools (Grafana, Kibana etc.), data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.


Preferred:



  • Having a motorsports/FSAE background or experience in a similar role in other EV companies.

  • Experience or knowledge of DAQ systems (such as Ipetronik, Dewesoft, Vector and National Instruments) and different types of automotive sensors.

  • Experience with processing CAN & Ethernet data from various sources.

  • Experience with vehicle testing on proving grounds and fleet drives.

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

 

Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$112,000 - $154,000 USD
