About the role

This role is part of our core Data & Analytics team, nested within the larger Product & Technology department. You will work closely with Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and Data Analysts who provide comprehensive support across the company—from managing our data infrastructure to delivering actionable insights to key stakeholders. As the Data Analyst for Knowledge which includes History Extra and Gardeners World brands, you will play a vital part in contributing to their strategies in respect to analysis and insight generation, BAU reporting as well as helping to deliver the Data & Analytics Team vision. This involves in-depth analysis, gaining insights, and understanding user behaviour across acquisition, engagement, and retention across both web and app products. Your primary stakeholders will include the Senior Leadership and Editors of History and Gardeners, and you will be at the forefront of Analytics evangelism, upskilling the business in their use of data and how it can help make better-informed decisions.

You’ll love this role if;

You have previous experience in analysing and optimizing web and app user behaviour. You are skilled in managing large datasets using SQL and Tableau, and you're knowledgeable about digital analytics tools like GA4.

You possess a strong desire for knowledge and continuous personal development, aiming to influence strategic decisions directly through data insights.

As a Data Analyst you will;

  • Deliver meaningful insight and actionable recommendations, presented with confidence and succinctness
  • Analyse data across Web and App, content performance, marketing & CRM as well as commercial & registrations
  • Building data sets via stored procedures in SQL and models in DBT to feed downstream reporting, 3rd party tools such as our Customer Data Platform and personalisation services.
  • Develop and maintain Tableau reports and dashboards to track key customer performance metrics and insights.
  • Collaborate with departments such as Audience Development & SEO, Commerce, Product, and Brands to ensure data-driven decision-making.
  • Query our Azure DWH to generate insights, guide business strategies, and support product development.
  • Recommend data-driven actions to enhance user engagement, retention and increase registrations & subscriptions
  • Push the business forward up the analytics maturity curve by innovating new ways to analyse, model and predict behaviour.
  • Drive the data literacy levels across the teams and stakeholders you interact with, being responsible for raising reporting and data tools usage within your area.


Requirements
  • 3 years’ experience in data analytics or a related role, preferably within media, e-commerce, or digital products. 
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau. 
  • Experience working with Google Analytics or similar web tracking tool. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders. 
  • Experience with Martech solutions, GTM, Optimizely and Python / Predictive Analytics desirable not essential
