Job Description

Our purpose is to bring together people, energy and markets to power and navigate a changing world. In a time of constant change and possibility we need new talent to pursue commercial opportunities, fuelled by world-class insight and expertise. We’re always striving for more innovative digital solutions, sustainable outcomes and closer collaboration across our company and beyond, and you could be part of that too. This role for someone with strong commercial savvy, problem-solving skills, and the ability to co-create solutions to category challenges while cultivating partner relationships and developing insights into supply markets, including emerging technologies and progressives.

About the Role:

At bp, data plays a critical role in shaping the future of energy. As a Data Analyst, you will be instrumental in extracting meaningful insights from complex datasets to support strategic decision-making and drive business growth. You will be responsible for the end-to-end data lifecycle, from sourcing and cleansing to analysis and visualization, ultimately contributing to our commercial success. We’re looking for curious, collaborative thinkers who enjoy solving problems, asking questions, and working with others to make a real impact.

Please note that roles based out of SJS or Sunbury will move to Timber Square, Southwark, from Q4 2027”

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Analyse complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities that support business and strategic decision‑making

  • Clean, transform, and validate data to ensure it is accurate, consistent, and fit for purpose

  • Integrate data from multiple sources and systems to provide a single, reliable view for analysis and reporting

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated data pipelines and ETL processes

  • Create clear and compelling visualisations, dashboards, and insights for both technical and non‑technical audiences

  • Work closely with stakeholders across teams to understand business challenges and apply data‑driven solutions

  • Contribute to data governance, quality, and security standards, ensuring best practices are followed

  • Support the broader data strategy by proactively sourcing data and identifying new ways it can add value

  • Ensure adherence to digital security protocols and best practices in all data-related activities.

  • Design, develop, and maintain Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes to automate data pipelines.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience in a data analyst or similar role, working with structured data

  • Good practical knowledge of data manipulation using tools such as Python, SQL, or R

  • Experience cleaning, transforming, and combining datasets from different sources

  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau

  • An understanding of data quality, governance, and security principles

  • The ability to translate data insights into clear recommendations that drive business value

  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with confidence working in cross‑functional teams

Experience within the energy sector or complex commercial environments is helpful but not essential — transferable skills and a curious attitude are equally valued.
