The Data Analytic Team within the Department of Finance’s Financial Reporting & Control Division (FRC) is seeking two qualified candidates interested in becoming subject matter experts on how transactions travel through our financial system, data mining financial data to solve complex problems and finding solutions, teaching others about the system, and performing analysis to ensure financial data is correct between modules.  These candidates must be comfortable working with large data sets and working efficiently to figure out issues.  If you like to figure out how things work and really dig into the numbers, this position is right for you.


This position’s start date will not occur prior to July 7, 2025.


About This Role:

  • Will analyze data between our Budgetary Control & Encumbrance Accounting (BCEA) module to our General Ledger data to ensure they stay in sync, identify any issues, and derive a solution or work with our Financial Systems team to update the system.
  • Analyze recurring system processes to ensure that they are operating properly and not misstating financial transactions, such as the monthly receipt accounting accrual and year-end carryforward process of remaining balances of Purchase Orders.
  • Analyze transaction attributes to ensure the general ledger system is accounting for the transactions in the correct period and/or fiscal year.
  • Create job aids and conduct training to teach others how the financial system works.
  • Help troubleshoot issues in the financial system reported by customers, determine what is occurring, and how to fix it.
  • Analyze encumbrances to ensure encumbrances are accurately presented and process correcting entries as needed in the financial system.
  • Assist with testing new financial reports in the financial system, providing detailed feedback, and working with the Financial Systems team to finalize the report.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and 6 years of experience in accounting / auditing field.

Preferences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.  
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud’s Financial System is preferred.
  • Some experience with working in state and/or local government is preferred but not required. 
  • Some experience developing ad-hoc reports and analyzing large volumes of data.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft suite products, such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; Microsoft 365 products, such as, OneDrive, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams; and other applications.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and communication to consistently deliver high quality work in a professional manner.

Work Schedule:

  • Must work business hours Monday-Friday at a minimum.  
  • Overtime hours may be required to meet deadlines during busy seasons and to meet deadlines outside of busy season as necessary. 
  • This is a teleworking eligible role that may revert to full-time or part-time in-office scheduling if business needs change. Currently, FRC is 95% telework/5% on site (at least 1 day a quarter). 
  • Employees may be asked to come on site more frequently as needs arise and at any time.  
  • We try to give advanced notice when needs change but are not always able to.


Starting Salary Range: $76,069.50 - $108,000.00
