Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)- Corporate

Serving those who serve others.  The Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Department supports the programs of VOALA through data collection and validation, identifying, describing, and analyzing strengths and problems and then supporting the Evaluation Department and the Programs as they implement and update best practices.  The CQI Department works with all VOALA programs to ensure their hard copy records and electronic databases meet legal and funder requirements, and reviews selected program procedures for compliance with funder requirements and goals.  The CQI Department strives to ensure that all VOALA programs are �audit-ready�.

JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

The Data Analyst reviews and validates the data entered into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and other databases by program staff and dedicated Data Quality Specialists; supports Database Lead.  Conducts independent analysis reviewing data trends to develop improved automation in support of program missions.  Trains all users of HMIS and other databases, assists in program funder audits, internal audits and monitoring visits. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible to maintain, interpret, test, and analyze data to ensure information is being properly stored in client enrollment databases (e.g. HMIS)
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends in complex data sets.
  • Identify and implement technical solutions where efficiencies may be gained through automation.
  • Develop and maintain queries, reports, and data feeds for internal and external users.
  • Assist in assembling complex ideas, issues and observations into useful explanations and clear direction for the team.
  • Provide technical assistance and cross training to other team members.
  • Maintain knowledge on current HUD data elements and requirements or requirements by other funders.
  • Participate in meetings and business and data analysis activities with cross-functional teams to gather required reporting and dashboard requirements.
  • Lead and/or assist with ad hoc data-related projects such as survey collection or generating reporting for funders on grant performance
  • Other duties as may be required to support program with database and information system expertise.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications

EDUCATION:

  • Masters Degree in Data Science, Public Administration, or other relevant discipline

EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-years of experience operating/maintaining database
  • 2 years of experience serving a non-profit organization
  • Advanced experience with clustered analysis of client service data

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • U.S. Veteran preferred.
  • Familiarity with HMIS, Adsystech, and/or Clarity programs
  • Experience working with veterans, people in recovery and/or homelessness individuals
  • Bilingual preferred (English and Spanish)
