A Business Intelligence Analysis to work within the Highways Service at Lancashire County Council

The role will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, analysis, reporting and dissemination of Business Intelligence, to deliver robust and accessible intelligence products that will guide and inform evidence-based decision-making in the Lancashire Highways Operations and Design Service. The results and findings from these projects will inform service design and decision making, for the benefit of policymakers, service providers, partners, and the public.


This is a dynamic, innovative team that includes both the construction and network operational services to form Lancashire Highway Services. We have demonstrated our capabilities to deliver both highway maintenance and multi-million-pound highway infrastructure schemes. This success has gained stakeholder confidence which has meant we are now the "Provider of Choice" for Highways Services in Lancashire. What we are looking for…


Business Intelligence Analyst – For this exciting opportunity, we are seeking a professional qualified person that will provide specialist advice and guidance to the Highways Operations and Design Service and key operational objectives through continuous refinement of core data sets relevant to the highway and all aspects of the Highways Operations and Design Service.  


You will be expected to maintain up to date knowledge of multiple highway data sets and other data sets relevant to the highway operation that will support informed decision-making processes for optimisation of the county's highway maintenance and improvement programmes of work.


This newly created post will bring a diverse workload with challenges and opportunities at every turn. We need someone with substantial experience in analysing and synthesising data to produce meaningful reports in a manner that is accessible to all, including non-technical colleagues.


The successful candidate will be self-motivated and professional in their approach with a proven history of working with a range of IT systems and structures that have supported and delivered business accuracy and efficiency.  .


They will have:



  • Exceptional IT skills and considerable experience in managing the collection and analysis of data to inform decision making.

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively across a range of county council services and partners.


You will also have: 



  • Confidence to communicate at all levels.

  • The political awareness required to support our corporate responsibilities.
