Position Overview
The Business Intelligence Analyst position in Institutional Research is an excellent role for an individual wishing to join a team of hard working and future-focused data and analytics professionals. The successful candidate will work collaboratively as a member of the Data, Analytics, and Institutional Research ( DAIR ) team and will interact with internal and external stakeholders to support a variety of institutional research and analytic initiatives at The University of North Texas ( UNT ). The person in this role will assist with the ongoing development and implementation of SAS Business Intelligence tools ( SAS Visual Analytics, SAS Visual Statistics) to promote the development and use of analytic dashboards (known collectively as the Insights Program) designed for wide distribution to the UNT community. The position is responsible for assisting with the design, delivery, and maintenance of information solutions containing administrative and student data. The primary functions of this role will be to 1) perform data analysis, generate analytics, and communicate results involving institutional data, 2) assist the Director of Institutional Research with building relationships with functional and technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop and design reports and dashboards to address key institutional initiatives, 3) assist the DAIR department with advancing the data landscape. The successful candidate will join a strong team of data modelers, analysts, and institutional researchers to provide direct support to internal and external stakeholders, manage relationships with data providers and end users, and assist with communication and collaboration to notify the user community of changes, enhancements and new analytics and data resources.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and five years of professional experience in a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
This 12 month position requires excellent writing, oral communication, and computer skills. The successful candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of SQL and SAS programming and will be required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with data providers and consumers. A Master’s Degree in a related field and two years of data analysis work experience is preferred. The person in this position will be required to comply with all UNT Computing, State, and Federal rules regarding data usage and confidentiality. Preferred qualifications include experience working in an institutional research setting, a basic working knowledge of student data sources including financial aid, admissions, and student records.
