Job Summary:

As part of Ascot’s Actuarial Reserving business unit, the Associate Actuarial Data Analyst, Reserving will work on critical “run the business” core services such as data manipulation and querying, template creation, tool support, and coding. The Associate Data Analyst will be responsible for running and maintaining reports centered around Reserving analyses. They will also assist the actuarial team in building reports that highlight our Reserving findings, empower the team to work efficiently with large data sets, and where applicable leverage third party data. This role will work in the office on a hybrid (at least 3 times per week) work schedule.  

Responsibilities:  

  • Apply programming/engineering fundamental principles in building and testing data tools, systems and reporting solutions
  • Assist in the creating of reports to highlight Reserving findings
  • Clean, reconcile, and validate data from various internal systems to ensure accuracy
  • Support reserving team by validating and analyzing data
  • Collaborate with other functional areas to improve data quality and consistency
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as needed and contribute to a collaborative, high‑performing culture aligned with The Ascot Way

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance
  • Strong data skills/advanced analytical capability gained as part of an Insurance, IT, Finance, Data, or Math curriculum
  • Experience coding in SQL, and R/Python
  • Excel experience in an analytical environment. Prior work experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to learn, understand, and apply technical concepts
  • Demonstrate ownership for well-defined tasks
  • Able to work within deadlines, manage time, and prioritize with guidance
  • Establish effective relationships with peers and team managers
  • Commitment to advancing technical knowledge and skills
  • Insurance industry experience is preferred, but not required
  • Strong attention to detail and verifying data, maintaining high levels of accuracy

 

Compensation  

Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company.  

The annualized base pay range for this role is: $70,000-$75,000
