Description

Key Accountabilities 

  • To support more senior team members in automating processes.
  • This includes (but not limited to):
    • Solvency II Technical Provisions
    • GAAP reserving (with long term intentions to use machine learning)
    • Pricing (making case pricing more efficient and scalable)
    • Pricing transformation (supporting model build from excel and Tyche into Python)
    • Dashboard support (working alongside the MI team to create new outputs)
    • Assist with the actuarial elements of the business planning process.
    • Assist with the parameterisation of the internal model.
    • Ad hoc analyses to support management as required.
    • Manage and collaborate group wide projects. 

 

Role Requirements 

Skills/Competencies 

  • Coding: The role is heavily focussed on how to take existing processes and make them more efficient and ideally, code them using python so the ability to interrogate excel models and translate to python is a must.
  • Technical: This role will be the first actuarial data analyst as part of a wider digitisation initiative. Therefore ability to understand mathematical and statistical techniques (such as reserving and pricing) will be required.  Candidate does not have to be a trained actuary, but someone who understands how to project and forecast. 
  • Communication: Communicates well one on one, in small groups and public speaking. Fluent, quick on feet, command of language. Keeps people informed. Writes clear, precise, well-organised documents using appropriate vocabulary, grammar & word usage.
  • Judgement / decision making: Consistent rationality & objectivity in decision making.
  • Flexibility: Respond to demand for actuarial support across the organisation.

 

Experience 

  • Proficient in Python
  • Experience using R and SQL are desirable.

Qualifications
  • 2:1 in a highly numerate degree (preference towards degrees requiring coding).
  • Minimum 1 year of London Market experience.
